Film elevated beyond film-adr in replace of sense, effects on effects, the rise of television, there's a lot here that actively throws away the physical and real, everything similar to our world yet distractingly distant. general iconography that conveys an average way of discovering theme and character, yet twisted into a bizarre, almost magnificent whole. it's goofy but there are some images here that will stick with you-that darker, more personal edge, the actuality of depression under layers of soap storytelling, it's the core that flashes out throughout. the film constantly pushes this core, from the beginning to the end, but since thrown through this filter it reveals itself to different viewers with different images-there is a wealth of exploration into different textures of cinema here, from the never-ending city expanse to the claustrophobia of the bathroom. don't know if anyone will grip on emotionally throughout, but it is kind of amazing in everything it does
