This was a nice reminder that film is captured light and shadow. I couldn't follow a fucking thing that was happening here – I quickly gave up trying to. I don't think it's a movie that wants to be understood, but rather experienced. Once I got on that wavelength, I had a great time just letting it wash over me.
Maybe I should thank the poorly translated subtitles for that freedom. They made the already dreamlike imagery even more surreal, more impossible to grasp. After any given scene, you could've asked me what just happened, and I wouldn't have been able to answer you.
Which honestly kind of rocks. How nice to just watch something happen without being able to give it a name. And how rare. That novelty makes this worth seeking out. I've really never seen anything like it.
