Art the Clown: hops out my TV set in a scary but jaunty fashion
Me: "Ah, you made it! Have a seat." I'm standing in front of my Art the Clown cork board, dozens of Art the Clown pictures tacked up, connected to each other by red yarn. There are also scraps of paper on which I've written things like "sexism" "culture" "the implications????"
Art the Clown: honks his horn in confusion
Me: "You're probably wondering why I've called this meeting. You see, I've been working tirelessly to find a way to argue that your franchising is actually a subversive commentary on women's inability to make meaningful individual advances within society"
Art the Clown: horny for mutilation, rips open my shirt to stab my perfect breasts. To his surprise, my torso is made up entirely of even more pictures and red yarn
Me: "Please, Mr. Clown. Wait for that part of my presentation."
Tabbing over to really gross BDSM porn so my wife doesn't see i’m watching All Hallows Eve
As far as low budget horror goes, this was pretty entertaining! Of the three stories, the first is the weakest (it’s really not that good tbh), but the second is better and the third makes no sense at all, but it’s really fun. I actually liked the wraparound segment the best and the actress in that one was pretty cool.
I’ve seen the next one but I had not seen this one and I have not yet seen Terrifier so I’m watching this before that. Also, I got a Hoopla subscription with my public library card so I have a whole new free streaming service to watch the crap out of.
Bananameter: 🍌 f*ckin clowns man 🍌

Despite some impressively resourceful design work, the first two segments are fairly ordinary, but it’s the final story, a thoroughly Carpenter-esque slasher scenario, that makes All Hallows’ Eve worth the price of admission. Although Mike Giannelli’s performance as Art the Clown isn’t quite as calculated or serpentine as David Howard Thornton’s later interpretation, the character’s malevolent look and his sense of gleeful menace are already present and terrifically upsetting. When his reality finally bleeds into that of the agreeably cozy wraparound, there’s no doubt about it, we’ve witnessed the birth of a new horror icon.
When it finally goes full Art this film comes to life -- but by the time that happens it's too late.
Sadly the birth of an icon is a bit of a stillborn.
I was gonna say I like art the clown better as a wraparound...until the final scene of the final segment and now I'm just irritated. I don't like being cockblocked from the horror genre with middle-finger-waving behavior like that...I don't enjoy feeling like someone is willing me to make a big fuss so that male horror fans'll just go 'see girls don't really like horror movies.' But I also can't just ignore something that blatantly gross, that big a fuck you, either so here we are, I guess you win! At least I got this out of the way for when I eventually start focusing on post 00 horror...though I'm beginning to wonder if I'll just end up being angry all the time. Which I don't particularly enjoy...anyway, one star for the retro feel? I guess?
you think i wont dig an iffy, uneven movie just cuz it takes place on halloween? i gave spooky buddies 4 stars!!! anyway: im still scared of thr clown
Oh my, I heart Art <3 I love the Terrifier films so it was about time I got to this one. A little ropey, very cheap but that all added to its charm. It got better as it went along and Mike Giannelli is just as good as Art, I cracked up so much especially towards the end. I think I might even like this more next time. I also liked that alien thingy and what looked like a thumb monster haha.
despite this film only being 80 minutes long, I lost literal years of my life watching it. the woman in the house with the... sorry... *checks notes* ...alien? desperately needs to consider a different career path; one that doesn’t involve any kind of acting whatsoever. oh and so do the rest of the cast! just one big cringey yawn-fest honestly
