It would be reductive and unfair to say that Michal Marczak’s “All These Sleepless Nights” is the film that Terrence Malick has been trying to make for the last 10 years, but it certainly feels that way while you’re watching it. A mesmeric, free-floating odyssey that wends its way through a hazy year in the molten lives of two Polish twentysomethings, this unclassifiable wonder obscures the divide between fiction and documentary until the distinction is ultimately irrelevant, using the raw material of real life to create a richer story of drift and becoming than “Song to Song” could ever manufacture from oblivious celebrities trying to find their characters between the notes.

Michał Marczak‘s ALL THESE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS is an instant favorite and totally my aesthetic. A coming-of-age doc/fiction with more emphasis on moments, mood, visuals and music than traditional scenes and plot. It's structured like collection of random memories stitched together, the narrative style reminded me of recent Terrence Malick's movies (Song to Song and Knight of Cups). The movie feels so poetic, hypnotic and melancholic and also it's the best looking documentary I've ever seen.
“Renaissance Bump,” is the best term to describe this movie which appears on screen at the start which means: “The tendency for our minds to hold onto a great number of memories from adolescence and early adulthood than any other period of our lives.”

‘’I look for what I’m missing’’
Mesmerizing piece of cinema. A quarterlife crisis filled with a rollercoaster of emotions. A void in our main character Krzysztof which he desperately tries to fill with parties, but they don’t seem to give him the satisfaction he needs. He almost enters the adult life where he leaves the carefree living behind but tries to keep the good memories. Before he enters the adult life he has a lot of questions; who am I? What do I want? Does life get better than this? Where do I want to go? How do others see me? Is this all?
Similar to a Malick movie there are scenes flowing into each other with smooth editing which…

I've been excited about this film for about 9months, I've tried to change my IP address to watch it, I've tried paying on random sites just to see it, I've probably told every person I know how much I want to see it. For all that was it worth it?
Yes.

i fell in love with this intoxicating, euphoric love letter to the night at first sight. it's a hazy, dreamlike odyssey though a collection of beautiful, thrilling, mundane, tender, devastating moments. every single scene is a revelation of movement and sound—saturated with dazzling city lights. i’ve never seen a movie that made me feel so alive, that captured the restlessness and recklessness of youth so vividly. i could've watched these lost boys wander drunkenly through warsaw by night for hours. i think i need to go sit in a park in a bunny suit and tell strangers they’re beautiful or something.
A straight, white boy wearing white t-shirts and black skinny jeans wandering around the city, partying and talking about/chasing girls he can’t get.
Might sound really boring, and at times it totally is, but something made this film very compelling and at the ending (which is actually super great) it all fitted together perfectly in my mind.
Probably described best as a Terrence Malick film (think Knight of Cups) about millennials, you decide if you'll like the sound of that...
