"Sometimes, you gotta be Sally Field"
I never reviewed Fyre after watching it. Instead I put a note on it in my currently unreleased 2019 film ranking that I felt if I cared about the subject matter more, I would have enjoyed the documentary more, and a bunch of dumb kids getting swindled out their parents' money and being forced to live an unprivileged lifestyle for a few days wasn't an emotionally appealing story to me.
Turns out, nope. A good documentary is one that can make you care about the subject matter on its own, no matter your preconceived notions.
