they filmed the whole halloween party scene at my grandfather's house and one of the shots was wide enough to see a picture of me and my sister so this is technically my first feature length film and i'm quite proud of that
anyway this movie sucks ass
hands off russian history
i can't believe you did THIS SHIT with the brutally murdered anastasia romanova. she was a well-mannered and educated young lady. and she was shot during the revolution when she was only 17 years old. and now you give us this. it's the same as making comedy movie with 9/11. but if someone did that, every american would be so pissed and start a riot. we get it. only your ass can be affected.
my expectations for this film is SO high. i'll die if it does not live up to it, because i'm just so fascinated by anastasia and the romanov history. (please play "once upon a december" on my memorial)
If you thought the fairy tale version of this historic massacre where Grigori Rasputin is not only the enemy rather than Lenin but a magical zombie with a talking albino bat for a sidekick and an army of flying gremlins and sets off on a journey to finish off the surprisingly-not-executed-in-cold-blood Grand Duchess of Russia whichever way he can and everyone is singing was a trip then boyyyyy howdy do I have news for you
arguably a more thought-out historical retelling than once upon a time in hollywood
When I read the plot I was like: lol, wtf
And when I finished the movie I was like: lol, wtf
if this movie was just 89 minutes of rasputin walking around in the 80s doing 80s things it would be a five star movie. Unfortunately for us, the filmmakers wanted to have a "plot". These 1½ stars are for you, candy-stealing gamer rasputin

possibly the worst film i have ever seen in my whole twenty-four years on this planet.
Throughout this movie all I could think about is how I'm cripplingly anxious over showing my own hobbies and projects to the world in case they aren't good enough, and how all it really takes is.... audacity. Just sheer amounts of audacity, because no matter how atrociously bad something is, if you just have the audacity to put it out there somebody somewhere will pay for it.
I honestly found this movie quite insulting. They made it out that the Romanov family ended up riding off into the sunset on a horse when that is so unlike reality, also Lenin is turned into this stereotypical villain character. I feel bad for the Romanov children and wouldn't want anyone twisting their truth like this.
It is very distasteful
Ok but Rasputin stole the show, despite transforming from an actual rapist to a loveable father-figure-esque character who loves to dance and eat Burger King
ALSO WHY IS KENDALL AND JILL FROM DANCE MOMS HERE
Myself and some friends have for the pandemic been doing a good bad film club on Thursday nights. But it is really hard these days to find films that hit the sweet spot of inept yet entertaining (sincerity is usually the missing ingredient). Well this is the real deal, a take on the Romanov story which encapsulates magic, time travel, a lacklustre makeover, and a take on the Russian Revolution which would make anyone's eyes boggle. Perhaps Anastasia escaping through time could be the basis of an adventurous film, but then slotting her into a teen movie whilst a brainwashed Rasputin (who here is nominally a goodie but has been brainwashed by Lenin's singing witch), is not that film. Its approved by the All Ages Duck too, a mark of quality I was hitherto unaware of but will be looking out for in future
