An improvement over the first film (which I thought was OK and not as egregiously terrible as others did), filled with effective setpieces, an atmospheric setting, nice camerawork, and a rock solid cast. I hope Lulu Wilson goes on to have a wonderful career and keeps making genre films! Side note: I really liked the scarecrow thing! If they keep making spinoffs of these movies, I hope it gets one.
It’s not perfect, particularly in its trope heavy scares (contorted person with cracking bones, bodies being dragged away from the camera etc) but at least they are pulled off tastefully... this movie is a setpiece machine! Plus I totally enjoyed myself today with a bucket of popcorn and leaves gently falling outside my window, something I really needed today.
