It is crazy how much fun Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man actually is. How many directors before Peyton? A story about a man the size of an ant? Paul Rudd as the lead? Clueless Paul Rudd? Now, we’ve all read the almost universal praise for Black Panther. I’m glad Black Panther has brought newfound excitement to the MCU. But, I’m here to say, although Ant-Man lacks a pulse pounding soundtrack and we have a villain as vanilla as Vanilla Ice; the movie is humorous in all the right ways, and Ant-Man has a heart of gold. The origin story is very simple, but entertaining as hell.

Somewhere in the multiverse people watched the Edgar Wright Ant-Man and I’m insanely jealous.
It's cute for an hour but then I got really bored and I wanted to turn it off. Rewatches have usually slightly improved the Marvel origin movies for me, but it did the opposite here

I don't even know why I see these films. The MCU, in spite of The Avengers installments and a few select other entries, doesn't work for me. So, I went into Ant-Man expecting something different. It looked smaller, more grounded, and less bombastic in its excessive popcorn storytelling. I was right, but that doesn't mean that it was necessarily a good thing.
First off, can we stop the TV-style cinematography? I go to the movies to escape the realms of television and their blandly sterile look. While Ant-Man has some breathlessly ambitious moments, the overall look is just plain boring.
