A good Elseworld that maintains the essence of Batman's mythology despite being in a different environment. Very enjoyable if you know the stories that inspire the film.
Kind of cool, but like with so many of these DC releases, the pace is too slow and what actually happens, not that memorable. So many times they came close with it's zombie-style Gotham, but in the end didn't live up to potential.
What began with promise slowly morphed into an exposition-heavy glob of boredom.
'Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham' is an Elseworlds tale that's a mixture of Lovecraftian horror, 1930s aesthetics, and a good heaping of uninteresting villains.
The mystery element was extremely intriguing since the Caped Crusader is a detective after all but once the main villain is revealed...it just becomes another boring retelling of a Batman storyline we've seen a hundred times over already. I think these villains need to be put on ice for a very long time.
The fact that this film deals with dark magic, hellish creatures of unfathomable origin, and godlike beings...why is it so damn boring?

Wow! As a big fan of both Lovecraft's stories and Superhero tales this crossover was exactly what I was looking for! On the same token the lowish average rating and mediocre reviews for this one puzzles me. As an action junkie I thought this flick was an absolute blast! This Batman Elseworld story is set in a period story with demons, devils, and monsters. There's mystery and investigation. There are plenty of alternate takes on characters we know. Batman continually gets his ass kicked and has to outsmart ghastly beasts. There's death and emotion, evil plots from secret societies, blood magic and noble sacrifices. What I do like about these DC animated movies is that they're able to do stuff we're not used to. Sometimes they hit, sometimes they don't. But at least there's interesting variety.

This DC animated film is a much better idea than it is an actual movie. Mix Batman and his mythology with HP Lovecraft and his cosmic horror. That's not half bad. But it introduces a mystery that even the mad Abdul Alhazred couldn't solve: why is this flick so damn boring?
The movie is set in the early 20th century as Bruce Wayne returns to a Gotham deep in the depression. There's an ancient Lovecraftian doom complete with mad cultists and tentacles (lots of tentacles) coming and only Bruce (and his pals) can stop it.

This was pretty cool, aelseworlds story based on a comic by Mike mignola, creator of hellboy,this is batman but a period piece set in victoriana gothic gotham with a lovecraft, cthulu,cosmic horror vibe. It's a bit exposition heavy at times but the animation style, the appearance of different versions of Oliver Queen, Harvey dent amd poison ivy and a good story made this a good watch.
Eh, this is only good as pure unadulterated fanservice...a game of spot the reference/reworked character. Oh look, there's Poison Ivy as an eldrich horror. There's Two-Face and Mr. Freeze...corrupted by an eldrich horror. Oh look, there's Killer Croc...as an eldrich horror. Oh look, the League of Assassins is...an eldrich cult now. There's Etrigan...he's exactly the same, except naked. Oh look, there's Jason Todd...I mean, Sanjay Tawd...and he's a stereotypical and borderline-racist south Asian street urchin-turned-boy servant ala Hadji from Jonny Quest...and still fucking dies. There's no consistency when it comes to character names or portrayals- some are nearly identical (Batman, Alfred, Dick Grayson, Lucius Fox, Commissioner Gordon) but then others barely resemble.

Honestly, it’s mighty impressive to make a Batman story and have me not really care at all. The action and animation in this I really enjoyed but I felt the story was just lacking. Did not really feel like a Batman story at all (maybe it’s a comic accurate story idk). Really felt like it should be a Constantine story, feel like they could have added him in for good fun. Love my guy Oliver Queen getting some screen time tho, Big Arrow guy.
