I got let go from, what I considered, my dream job last week and the stress of being denied unemployment and trying to find a job in the midst of a global pandemic whilst being immunocompromised has been VERY HARD and so I’ve been rewatching A LOT of my favorite films from my childhood to cope.
I can’t look at this film in any sort of unbiased way. I know it’s probably considered cheesy and not the best but good Lord do I love this movie!!!!!! It is wholesome and fun and makes me cry (this is no surprise since we all know EVERY movie makes me cry)!!!
small town southern summer vibes, a little lesbian protagonist, a dog that deserves an oscar, dave matthews playing a recluse ex-convict, nora jones songs, animals attacking cops....what doesn’t this movie have

Still holds up. Such a great feel-good movie.
Killer soundtrack, too.
Saya berbohong kalau mengatakan ngak enjoy sama film ini, padahal awalnya ekspektasiku sama film ini rendah karena liat ratingnya yang cuma segitu saja, lagian film ini kelihatan terlalu kanak-kanak, tapi kok sepanjang film saya bisa enjoy banget sama ini, entahlah apa karena ceritanya memang bagus atau karena penampilan AnnaSophia Robb yang sangat baik untuk sekelas anak-anak, dan juga imut lagi menggemaskan, rasanya ingin sekali mencubit pipinya.
Peran yang dimainkan oleh AnnaSophia Robb di sini mungkin adalah anak idaman para orang tua dan adik idaman para kakak, adalah Opal seorang anak perempuan dari seorang pendeta dan seorang ibu yang meninggalkannya saat dia masih kecil, karena hubungan dia dengan ayahnya agak sedikit renggang mengingat status ayahnya, bersama dengan anjing peliharaannya yang dia…
Harmless and cute enough but this is a fairly average and standard family film overall. There’s really nothing particularly bad about “Because of Winn-Dixie”, it’s just pretty formulaic and a little slower than I was expecting. AnnaSophia Robb and Jeff Daniels are solid and Winn-Dixie is adorable but you’ve seen this all before. I appreciate this is a little more mature than similar films of its kind but it’s pretty much just for kids.
This makes my heart so so happy.
Winn-Dixie reminds me of my black Labrador. He enjoys being your friend & loves being a socialable animal :)

I don’t remember why, but this movie was such a large part of my childhood. However, the only real memory I have of watching it was immediately naming this fancy dog marionette thing I had Winn-Dixie.
