i wouldnt call this good but it was cute and there was no threat of r*pe or s*xual violence or male violence or anything other than a mildly annoying man and sometimes that's really all i need to like a major motion picture if im being honest which i am. also nicole kidman is insanely beautiful and has some really sweet sweaters and i love her and she's amazing even tho i never noticed her gorgeous lithe flipper hands before the other week and it doesnt matter there's beyond zero chemistry between them i just dont give a shit im so tired of dumb man shit it's nice just to watch some dumb woman shit sometimes
like this was fun for 20 minutes when it was just nicole havin fun and bein A Witch but then w*ll f*rrell had to come and start yelling and make me wanna hit that Die
if jon hamm had played will ferrell’s role this movie would be a good 20% better
took a studio tour when I was a kid and I saw them shooting this which was a very cool thing to see at the time. anyway, watched this at 7am and found it oddly charming but I was also half asleep so who really knows
I have a feeling that watching the original show first would’ve probably made me enjoy this more than I did.
give me a cut of this movie without will ferrell and i'll give it the 5 star rating it deserves
The first half of this movie made me think, “Whoa, this is fun! How is this quirky Nora Ephron joint not a cult classic?” Then the second half made me think, “Oh, that’s why...” It’s been a while since I’ve seen something so promising go so off the rails so badly, but boy, did this do just that.
Look...I can't defend this movie. It's insanely miscast. The premise is actively insane. The love potion politics are classically Nora in not holding up. And there's literally 15 minutes so inconsequential they rewind the film and erase them.
Yet...I liked it! I dunno man it's just a wonderful little breezy film that frankly I tapped into. This is souffle Nora with a bad script but it's still here at her charming witty self. Kidman I think is really good, seriously! We cast her too much as a menacing overbearer, so to watch her have a genuine arc of naviety to power was lovely. And Farrel is like 40% bad in this film but the 60% rest still works for me.…
Just an absolutely bananas take on the source material that doesn’t work even a little by accident. It’s a hat on a hat on a hat on a sombrero (a traditionally large hat).
Look, Nora Ephron took a big swing, and she knocked a bunch of stuff over. She’s still one of the best ever and I love her.
if you hated someone you would force them to double this and the stepford wives remake
Definitely an interesting premise I kind of always thought this film was just a direct remake of the series just based on its teasers. The second half was boring af though.
ok so i clearly would have enjoyed this a lot more if i watched or was even slightly familiar with the original show, as there was multiple references that i just did not understand at all oops but nicole kidman was so charming in this & i had fun & sometimes that’s all you want.....also highly appreciated the two second cameo from my wife kate walsh
I remember being super excited for this to come out, so much so I had watched a pirated copy that was literally recorded in the cinema because I couldn't wait for it to come to cinemas. I remember being a pretty disappointed 13 year old afterwards.
Since then I've watched the movie numerous times and have grown to love it. It's so weird and the Will Ferrell casting is totally wrong, but it's kind of trying to give the material a postmodern twist and I don't hate it. In some ways, it adds to the magic of the movie. The entire cast (minus Ferrell) is great! I just wish some of them had a bit more to do. And the…
