Science has proven that squishy robots are the best robots. And Baymax is the squishiest robot of all.
THAT WAS HIS MISTAKE
If it wasn't for Baymax this movie would legitimately bore me out of my mind. It's really lame as a superhero movie and a Disney movie, and I hate T.J. Miller in this sooooooo much. But y'know it's not awful or anything. Just...10 years behind the curve. Actually, scratch that, Pixar made The Incredibles 10 years before this came out so it's more like 15 or 20 years behind.
While disappointing due to its Marvel approach to story structure, Big Hero 6 still provides a funny and heartwarming ride because of a whimsical screenplay, excellent animation, and one of the finest characters of the year; Baymax. The message is kinda overstated in the beginning, but that quickly fades away and the audience is left with a fun time at the movies.
Honestly, the short film before this (Feast) was way better than this film. Loved that.
Let me get one thing straight. There is no Marvel story structure or whatever you want to call it. There is a story structure Marvel uses a lot, both in their comics and their films. It is a structure done to death in about 99% of big, commercial animation movies. Don't blame Marvel for everything that's wrong in the movie industry, blame God Money who rules us all.
Now, this is not 'The Avengers for kids' (which to my surprise is in the actual synopsis of this film on this very site), if anything it's How to Train your Baymax and I mean that in the best way possible.
There are hardly any truly original mainstream animation films. They have…
From the creators of Wreck-It Ralph & Frozen comes another impressive outing that's as fresh, smart & intuitive as the aforementioned films and, apart from continuing the recent success streak for the studio, also marks their first foray into the genre of superhero filmmaking as the premise is based on Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name.
The story of Big Hero 6 concerns a young prodigy who develops a special bond with his older brother's creation called Baymax; an inflatable robot designed to serve as a personal healthcare companion. But when Hiro discovers his own invention being used for evil purposes, he transforms Baymax & his friends into a band of high-tech heroes to take on the person responsible.

Better than most live-action superhero operas. Crisp, clean action and a loving, adorable central dynamic are only a couple of its vivid pleasures.
I know it's based (very very loosely) on a Marvel comic, but it's so blatantly a combination of THE IRON GIANT and THE INCREDIBLES that Disney should pay Brad Bird residuals from this movie. Still pretty entertaining though. And Baymax is an absolute delight.
You may be able to forgive that this film teaches kids that CEOs who cut corners and let people die aren't culpable for the deaths they cause, but I am certainly not. Death by policy, death by shareholder's interests, death by corporate negligence, death by greed is by far the most grievous of capitalism's crimes. Krei should fucking burn in hell.
I would love to live in San Fransokyo. Very cute animations and characters and cool sciency.
