A lot of these seem to involve Bigfoot.
The test run for Little Bigfoot, including casting the Hartford's Matt McCoy as the helpful law enforcement officer named Nick, Bigfoot: The Unforgettable Encounter is structured a bit better than what would come later. It's not breaking new ground anywhere, but for a kid's film about a boy and his big, smelly sasquatch, this works quite nicely.
I don't know much about Zachary Ty Bryan, but the rest of the cast is mostly unknowns who seem to be enjoying their time in front of the camera. David Rasche plays a billionaire who wants to kill Bigfoot for his own reasons, Rance Howard appears as…
Bigfoot family fun, plus honorary cryptoid, Clint Howard. Sure, we have proof he exists, but do we know exactly what he is? Loveable, big headed, scene stealer...am I talking about Bigfoot or Clint? The answer is yes.
The bear scene in The Revenant has nothing on the bear scene in Bigfoot: The Unforgettable Encounter.
“You know parents are the same, no matter time nor place, they don’t understand that us kids are going to make some mistakes. So to you, all the kids all across the land, there’s no need to argue, parents just don’t understand.” These words written by the illustrious DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air have taken root in the hearts of so many kids and teens through the ages—but they have never rang truer than for a specific genre of adolescent. I’m talking of course about children in movies where they befriend misunderstood critters and go on high concept adventures to save them from authority figures. Yes, despite not having a coehsive genre name it is…
The Ice Cream man himself Clint Howard is wearing a fun toupee in this family friendly Bigfoot movie featuring the kid no one liked from Home Improvement, you know, the oldest and dumbest one and like, I get why they cast him as the dumbest cuz he just naturally looks dumb. Although for a kids movie I’m pretty sure there was a jizz joke. The mom’s kids shoot their squirt guns at her. When she chases them off she turns to her husband and says,”They must of learned it from you” while slowly flicking water off her face. So we’re to believe that her husband shoots her with water guns or...
Anyhow, this is a humorless Harry and the Hendersons but, you know, Bigfoot movies are pretty sweet!
There are two reasons to watch this film.
1. Bigfoot fights a bear.
For real.
The actor in the Bigfoot suit fights a real bear.
2. Clint Howard's horrible wig.
Sledge Hammer (David Rasche), Lloyd Braun (Matt McCoy), and Slinky (Clint Howard) in a children's Bigfoot movie. Took me 4 sessions to make it to the end. The Bigfoot vs Bear fight scene is recommended, but not worth sitting through just for that.
The early ideas are there, but unfortunately this just doesn’t have the same charm that Little Bigfoot does.
