Well-traveled comedian and 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien' regular Bill Burr steps into the spotlight in this stand-up special.
Bill Burr is just as full of rage at trivial annoyances as I am, only he channels it through relatable and belly laugh inducing observational comedy. Here on his One Night Stand, he excels, fitting in so many laughs for such a short time.
The first part has some great digs about the burning building male surcharge and the obsession some people have with candles, but the laughs dropped off a lot from there. It's still entertaining, but I know he has better skits down the road.
One of Bill Burr's earliest works, this is him in full blown single man territory, before settling down and smoothing out a little bit. He's one of the most relatable comedians I've ever watched, and has some of the freshest views out there. I enjoy listening to his rants on my commutes.
Such a fan of Bill Burr, even material from over 10 years ago cracks me up. Glad to see this unearthed online. Need to fill up my diet of Burr everyday. As per, he delivers his usual brand of humour which, while definitely not for everyone, is great for those who like him and enjoy his dark, sardonic and offensive irony.
Bill's style fits this format alot better than some other comedians and this is more consistently funny than the other half hour specials I've seen, even if his style isn't fully formed yet and some of this is quite dated.
I don't think I have ever watched this, but it sort of felt like I had. It is probably a combination of having watched a few clips from it and also some of the material Bill Burr has polished and reused in future specials which I have already seen.
Quote of the show:
I got this howdy-dody-kind-of-mug-me-kind-of-face.
Thought I hadn’t seen this before but I had. A pretty good half hour but the material he takes from this and uses in future specials he really polishes well. Bill Burr is a Top 5 modern comic and possible all-timer.
