Though there are far worse straight-to-insert-streaming-platform-of-choice horror films to be seen, "Bleed," directed by Tripp Rhame, does not make for a worthwhile use of time. It has its very minor charms, however, and may make for a solid 80-plus minutes for patient genre fans.
Revolving around a pregnant woman who runs afoul of the standard town-with-secret, "Bleed" and its particular brand of horror involve EVP devices, haunted prisons, and ghostly hillbillies. It is an odd and uncomfortably combined mix, but the tale is almost compelling.
The production is limited, and, though members of the cast give their all, there is very little engaging on the screen. Jump scares, a gruesome character or two, and a general lack of atmosphere compete…
October Horror Challenge 2016 Movie #15
A trifling, moronic waste of time that doesn't even let its own characters behave like logical human beings, let alone decide exactly what it's even trying to be. A lot of wandering around and bickering, some unearned violence, and then it ends in as unsatisfying as it can. Bravo
- car flip
- motivational behavior abuse
- banging in the bathroom immediately after crying about wanting to leave, then kicks him in the throat
- then everyone's concerned about the kicked character bleeding out, and then he's fine the rest of the movie.
- Rob Zombie specter
- 2 burned
- 1 off screen by whatthefuckever
- I think a ghost bit somebody...
- 1 by gun
- 2 torn up offscreen
- 1 throat cut
- dirt vomit
- just bullshit
My 2016 October Horror List (aka Why I'm Extremely Pale in October)
Movie #29
Half the time I couldn't even understand what the locals were saying. I had to turn on the subtitles....but whatever. I'm not feeling great today and this was new on Netflix so I gave it a try. Like I said, I'm not feeling well and might have a slight fever so maybe that's why I didn't quite get the point of this movie. There's something about sacrifices but I don't get why they're doing it. Maybe there's no reason. Maybe they're just some crazy cult. The Preacher thing was weird and they did explain it but not really. That seems to be a thing with this…
bleed is terrible. i mean it just is. it’s trying to be at least 4 different movies at once and none of them work in the slightest. i didn’t expect much from this due to the terrible ratings. that’s how i even came to watch it in the first place. the prompt on my scavenger hunt was to pick the lowest rated movie on my watch list. enter bleed, which is only on my watch list because at some point i added every movie david yow is in. he’s one of my favorite humans but his choice in parts is def questionable.
Yeah, this... this isn't good.
Even if it weren't confusing, which it is, it still would be pretty stupid and worthless. There's a cult and a pregnant woman and hillbillies and a cast full of annoying dicks.
Honestly, I stopped caring about halfway through, but I stuck around because there's a cool "Jason Mamoa meets Rob Zombie ghost thing" that they don't do a good job of explaining. That's your high point.
Otherwise, it isn't any good. You can go to Google or something and type in "Bleed 2016 ghost" and you'll probably find a picture of the one cool thing in the movie. Then you can move on with your day.
Quickie Review
Screams to Stream 2: A New Nightmare in 5 Parts (Part 3 Conclusion)
And so it goes. Part 3 of Screams To Stream 2 ends not with a bang but a whimper. A slow, meandering, clichéd whimper with one too many jump scares. The story follows Sarah (Chelsey Crisp of “Fresh Off The Boat”) and Matt (Michael Steger of “90210”), a young couple that’s newly married, owners of a new house and expecting a child on the way. However, when they invite their friends over to celebrate their new home, things go to pot as expected when a innocent ghost hunt turns deadly as they explore an abandoned prison and it leads to consequences for all...including the unborn.…
Minutes into this supernatural horror I was thinking "this is gonna be bad". Minutes before the end I was like "this is not bad at all". It's low budget but done with skill, not everything's perfect but by the end I was digging the crazy vibe it built for its climax. If you're gonna watch it just have a little bit of patience and maybe you'll dig it like me.
