The most important thing about "Bloodsuckers" is that a filmmaker shows that different genres, styles, and themes can be combined well and become a good example for inspiring filmmakers in his work. Although traces of many filmmakers can be seen in Julian Radlmaier's latest film: from Roy Anderson to Wes Andersson, from Godard to Jarmusch, etc., we are still on the side of a artwork that can well be called a filmmaker. The film takes the right and successful path in the direction of political and philosophical concepts, and this has happened with Radlmaier's good understanding of the past. In any case, as one of the most anticipated films of the year, the result is quite satisfying and hopeful for me.
Julian Radlmaier's Bloodsuckers perfects what many other films, from Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive to Östlund's The Square and Bong's Parasite failed to complete throughout these years. Perhaps, if AES+F collective wanted to make an arthouse absurdist narrative comedy, while inspired by Godard's Weekend or Żuławski's Cosmos, you could get something more-or-less similar to this one. Sincerely, this is what I was waiting for to see from Berlinale since Puiu's gigantic Malmkrog.

Bloodsuckers is a funny experience. Witty and charming with a lot of fat to chew on. Perhaps the run time didn’t help the longevity of the laughs. Quite a unique ambiance and charm though.

I really couldn't follow anything and I'm not quite interested in the subject either..
I also expected a Vampire comedy, which I only got metaphorically... the comedic part was gold, though!

Si Wes Anderson, Bram Stoker y Karl Marx fuesen amigos y decidiesen crear una obra juntos el resultado sería Bloodsuckers. Una comedia marxista de vampiros con el estilo visual y humorístico de Wes Anderson. Para sorpresa de nadie, me ha encantado.
Bloodsuckers parte de un evento cinematográfico que, según ha contado el director, es real. Y es que en la película Octubre de Eisenstein iba a aparecer un actor interpretando a León Trotski, pero coincidió con aquella pequeña disputa sin importancia que tuvo con Stalin y finalmente la escena de Troski en la película se eliminó, como se hizo con Troski en muchos otros sitios incluyendo el club de alpinismo. I would’ve rated this sometimes rather amusing and prettily art directed social/ political satire somewhat higher if 1) it wasn’t that obvious/ familiar and 2), more importantly, if it had had the good sense to edit to 90 minutes or less. 130 minutes here is plain vain, extravagant and drains the film of any blood it might have, pun intended. The longer it goes on, the more undead it appears.
Interessant, skurril, eigen, theatral, für die Laufzeit zu wenig Zug und nicht ganz meins.
