One major complaint I have with Inside is how damn nihilistic and pessimistic it attempts to be, despite the beautiful thing it represents. It wants to paint the state of the world and Bo’s mental health as entirely hopeless, meanwhile the dude worked day in day out for over a year and made a beautiful thing that millions have connected with. A process that I’m sure was therapeutic for Bo as well. For this reason, I almost love The Inside Outtakes even more, as that process is put on full display. It’s brutally honest about creativity.
