This one snuck up on me. I started watching it on a whim and was instantly captivated by the propulsive editing and, yes, the excellent wig work on Benedict Cumberbatch.
The acting, directing and writing also has a dynamic force that carries right through to the end of the film. Frankly, no movie full of people talking in nice rooms has any right to be this good but here we are.
As an explanation of how “Leave” won the Brexit campaign, I can’t comment. I know too little. It certainly seems plausible. It doesn’t condescend to either side and lets them each have their best arguments, near as I can figure.
Maybe someone who isn’t interested in this subject would find the movie less compelling. But I am, and I did. This is one outstanding view into the abyss we are all now living in.
