France film noir in an ABSURD and SURREAL way
French roman policier where everything seems distorted and absurd. You have experienced every scene many times before but they are "uncooperative" and Everything happens in the wrong way; the characters speak so carefree and "normal" in extreme situations where it really happens strange and mystifying things. I feel that SURREAL is a suitable word here, and to make that even more significant, Carole Bouquet surfaces near the end, reminding everyone of Luis Buñuel, as she was of course half of the desirable woman in his last film "Cet obscur objet du désir" (1977).
The main actors are EXCELLENT; a young Gérard Depardieu, Bernard Blier , Jean Carmet, Geneviève Page and Carole Bouquet are all a delight to watch.
The opening sequence in the Metro is GREAT to watch.
I can feel that there will be future rewatches of this beautiful and "angst-ridden" urban dream.
