A hallucinogenic summer noir cocktail spiked with suspense is concocted as the unexpected arrival of a stranger ignites an inferno of secrets and guilt, complicating the relationship between a father and his daughter.
A steamy, sweaty mystery that is burning hot, delving into its puzzles and twisted psychological trickery with wit and class. A modern noir that oozes sexiness, confidently using style to elevate the substance, making for a characteristic and hypnotic film that drips with sleaze and brooding menace. It's nightmarish, yet tempting. It's pitch black, yet colorful. It's cruel, yet enticing and satisfying. It's a yummy film that tastes both sweet and salty, having some sour edges that sometimes sting a little, but not nearly enough to stop, with every bite getting tastier untill you can't stop eating, as the sweetness just keeps flowing untill everything is gone. And the last bite was the best. Perfect ending to an unfortunately rather unknown, but nonetheless delish little film.
Edmund was totally insane, but he wasn’t a total fool...He had a plan.
6 years after a brutal hit n run leaves his wife dead, a man strolls into Edmunds home and confesses. From there things take an unexpected turn and continue to just get stranger. I enjoyed the story and it’s characteristic noir elements, if you like noir + visual craziness that = 100% watch it.... It’s incredibly stylized looking, the whole thing felt like a fever dream or acid trip but sometimes the trippy imagery felt out of place or pointless. There were a lot of these color soaked dream like random moments. The soundtrack was incredibly fun and enhanced the atmosphere. Overall light on story heavy on…
A sun kissed, neon-lit neo-noir with a great performance from sexy femme fatale Alyson Walker, "Burning Kiss" is a gorgeous looking film that blew me away.
Everything about this noir was breathtaking. Alyson's character is both adorably innocent and devilishly wicked and naughty af at the same time! She's adorable in this.
The twists come fast and furious and it plays like "Psycho" meets "Misery" though it's also it's OWN DAMN THING!
Alyson Walker is one to look out for in the future, too. Yes, she disrobes and shows her big pink nipples but her performance in this is also brilliant, not just her nipples.
Just everything about this movie has my jaw to the floor like "The Door in the Floor"! Lol masterful!
Genius neo-noir and gorgeously shot!
At times it feels a bit more convoluted and overly stylistic than it needs to be but it keeps your interest throughout.
Pulling together these disparate elements, the director keeps the film's engine running for the first hour, seemingly by force of will. 'Burning Kiss' is a huge melting pot of garish stylistic influences that, while never quite cohering, is riveting nonetheless.
