It's non stop romps as the Carry On team deliver the goods in one of the rudest and funniest of the Carry On films. The cast are all on top form as a bunch of no-hopers who join an agency in the search for a job. The anarchy mounts as they do a series of odd jobs, including a chimps tea party, trying to stay sober at a wine tasting and demolishing a house.

Carry On Regardless finds the gang miserably unemployed so they all wind up working for the Helping Hands job agency run by Sid James, performing all sorts of random tasks, as needed. Naturally, it all leads to one goofy situation after another as the gang splits up and have their own individual comedic stories.
Not extremely well-loved by everyone, but I thought it was ingenious and showcased each performer quite well. The plot is lacking but the individual skits are funny enough to overlook that. The whole gang is working hard for your laughs and it pays off. The whole point is to laugh, so what's wrong with that?

Yesterday, I returned home from being back in the Midwest (where I was born and grew up before moving to Florida as a 23 year old) for a few days; yes, it was related to my mother being buried. More of a series of sketches with the thin plot line of an employment agency holding them together. Some (Williams taking a chimp for a walk, Hawtry as a boxing champ) are better than others (Connor as a spy) but in general it's pretty good; bless them, they all look so young!
Carry On Regardless is very much in the middle of my Carry On ranking. While it is an enjoyable film to watch, it does have it's problems. The main problem is that the narrative is far too loose and that the plot lacks some direction. It throws plenty of jokes at you but, sadly, not all of them land. Due to the loose nature of the narrative, this becomes a problem when the film is set up like a series of sketches, one after the other. However, for what Carry On Regardless lacks in plot, it makes up for it in fun. The cast are all on great form, displaying their excellent flair for comedy. Gerald Thomas's direction is also great and there are fun scenes.
Overall, Carry On Regardless is a fun entry in the series. While it has it's problems, it is still a good fun time.
Carry On film no.5 in the canon and screenwriter Norman Hudis declared this his least favourite of the six Carry On’s he wrote. Whilst most critics have noted that it feels more a series of sketches than an actual film, there are many good comedic scenes that keep you entertained. Of particular note include Kenneth Williams looking after a chimp for the day and enjoys a chimps tea party; Liz Frazer modelling some clothes and underwear for Jimmy Thompson; Joan Sims getting blind drunk at a wine-tasting and Sid James visit to a hospital which sees Hattie Jacques and Joan Hickson in role reversals to their characters in Carry On Nurse. Esma Cannon is a great addition to the cast and she shines (as always) as the loveable, dotty eccentric. The ending of the film’s all good fun too. Definitely a worthwhile and classic entry in the series.

Watched this last night. Honestly don’t have much to say on this one. What I’ve enjoyed about certain carry on films so far and I’m looking forward to with upcoming ones is the scenarios these characters are in. Sometimes they are in the police force, sometimes they are on ships and so on, so on. Here there really isn’t anything to this movie.
I kinda didn’t laugh once during this one either. Normally each of the previous movies would have a certain scene I’d find really funny. One that would stand out to me but here there really wasn’t anything.

Where the company scriptwriter of these first half dozen early Carry Ons, Norman Hudis, finally surrenders to situation comedy by providing the barest whiff of a plot as an excuse for a varied collection of comedy skits that have little to do with a general storyline. The excuse is that Sid James runs a private employment agency staffed by the usual eccentrics and no-hopers. ‘Carry On Regardless’ has a nice central conceit and is a perfectly watchable distraction, with nothing in there to offend or dismay, but it’s pretty much more of the same broad, dated jokes that are cumulatively amusing if not very funny. I snorted and smiled a bit but don’t think I ever laughed, despite the avalanche of jokes that were getting fired at me from left, right and centre.

Given the switch to sketch-based comedy as opposed to a straightforward narrative, this is a bit more hit-and-miss than usual.
Never seen this early entry, but it's much funnier than Carry On Nurse (little plot and very few comedic situations) and not as bawdy as later, more iconic, entries.

The fifth film in the series, and in my opinion one of the best, is Carry On Regardless. Ditching the ‘establishment’ approach, instead this film sees a bunch of hopefuls who are trying to find gainful employment signing up to an agency called Helping Hands. The enterprise offers any service that a client requires, and as the jobs come in the gang are sent off to a multitude of tasks, from the banal to the baffling. Throughout the proceedings, a man speaking gobbledegook (Stanley Unwin) keeps dropping by and, much to his irritation, nobody can understand what he wants.
