Champagne Charlie (1936) takes the flashback approach, so there is always a mystery hanging in the air about the killing. Sadly the characters never really comes alive. Paul Cavanagh wasn't exactly the type of leading man to carry a film on his own. Even worse was the conclusion going the safest way they could. A major letdown after the attempt to make the plot seem interesting.
