Nerve-shredding, well-paced and grimly told; Chernobyl is by far the greatest dramatization of human error ever produced for television, emphasising that the toxicity of humanity is just as destructive as the deadly fumes of nuclear energy. This is truly terrifying stuff.

Begins as visceral, graphic recreation and ends as a systematic breakdown of a government's limitations in what it teaches and what it hides. Mystifying and buried in existential dread.
watch me recommend this to everyone i know even if every episode makes me feel like im dead
"Every lie we tell incurs a debt to the truth. Sooner or later that debt has to be paid."
MASTERPIECE.
A triumph. Harrowing. Sad. Dark. Captivating. Sobering. Hard hitting. Brilliant. Devastating. Incredible. Haunting. Chilling. Nauseous.
Chernobyl has officially got me fucked up!! I think I need a therapist. This is more terrifying than any horror movie I've ever seen!! and I'm pretty sure I forgot how to breathe...
Damn that ending.... Fuck fuck fuck.....
Ps. Dyatlov is always a fucking asshole.
If you watch something like this and your big takeaway is that it was filmed in English, you may want to reevaluate your priorities
Brilliant. Incredible. Amazing. Show-stopping. Spectacular. Never the same. Totally unique. Completely not ever been done before.
Everybody gangsta till the horror movie is based on true events.
Those people, the firemen, soldiers, coal miners and scientists are all heroes in my eyes. They saved the entire Europe, paying the ultimate price. We should have a day dedicated to them when we can honor their sacrifice. RIP all of you!
arguably the most important thing put to screen this year. jared harris and emily watson are jaw-droppingly fantastic in this. i also loved barry keoghan's scenes as well. he's so great. and some really incredible writing by craig mazin - he did such a great job at conveying the emotion behind this disaster while including every important detail and even some funny moments as well to cut the tension. i never felt bored.
i read a super interesting interview where mazin explained his choice of using humor in certain scenes and his answer was "life is still happening. you can’t just watch a funeral for 60 minutes. and life is funny. even when things are falling apart, life is funny." i thought this was really interesting and super important. i loved this and i'm so thankful to be more knowledgeable on what happened in chernobyl. my heart goes out to everyone who was affected.
Fun (not really) fact: the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone was 30 km around the reactor when in fact it was supposed to be 200 km, and the distance between my hometown, Gomel and Chernobyl is 132 km which means the entire city was needed to be evacuated in 1986.
3.6 stars. Not great, not terrible.
Couldn’t pick a single COD 4 reference so I’ll just do all of them
“Chernobyl: Christmas for the BAD guys”
“50,000 people used to live here now it’s a GHOST TOWN”
“Careful... there’s pockets of radiation all over this area. Absorb to much and you’re a dead man”
“Are you daft? Stay out of the radioactive areas”
As terrifying of a real life dramatization as I have have ever seen.
The story is unbelievable in so many ways. That’s why it’s all the more commendable that writer/producer Craig Mazin and HBO produced the accompanying podcast to address the series’ accuracy and the changes made, or not made, to the historical “truth.”
While it was extra resonant to a series thematically tied to “the cost of a lie,” any serious docudrama should make a similar attempt to have some sort of appendix.
Noch nie bei nem Geschichts Film / ner Serie geweint. Jetzt war es soweit
Atomkraft? NEIN DANKE!!!
So this is my first mini series experience....A frend of mind recommend this for me and I yeah it was a really worthy recommendation. An outstanding series from right at the start to finish ! 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I couldn’t help but feel that the fact that everyone was British in this was very distracting despite the story being told being incredibly captivating
“We are so focused on our search for the truth we fail to consider how few actually want us to find it. But it is always there whether we see it or not, whether we choose to or not.“
i know my “review” is just a quote from the show but it’s okay it’s like 2 in the morning and i have no intelligent thought.
Great look into the dysfunction of the late Soviet system. Produced some of the highest quality memes in a generation
brilliant and interesting whilst being completely heartbreaking and showing the suffering of those who lived and worked at the plant
