When I read the back story to this I thought it was going to be a clever movie. Twas was not to be.
Turns out it's a very run-of-the mill historical drama with a lot of stuff going on. Instead of making the whole movie about the awesome water polo match (y'know, SYMBOLIZING the violent conflict on the streets) they chose to make it about whole 1956 uprising. There are anti-communist tensions, lots of discussions, activism, street fighting, a cynical badboy trying to lay a fiery revolutionary chick and much more. The drama is stale and the dialogues lame (or was it the other way around?) but the action is competently made. Throwing some water sports into this mess only made it even cheesier than it had to be.
Not worth checking out beyond the history lesson. The kind of movie kids are forced to watch at school.
