This documentary uses rare outtakes and rushes, and a parade of talking heads, to tell us how the great folly that was 'Cleopatra' was started, abandoned, made, released in the wake of scandal as Burton and Taylor left their respective spouses to set up home together, and eventually flopped to derisive critical comment and poor audiences.
Having said that, this film still intrigues today and has stayed the course of fifty years despite it being overblown and daft. There is a great story that can be told about it - I just felt this documentary wasn't it.
