Putting that Daft Punk footage on RIGHT before Justice, then going straight from Ye in 06’ to Jay in 2010 and then BACK to Ye in 2011?....yeah I’m gonna watch this thing about thirty more times
The HD footage of Daft Punk's set was easily the best part of this documentary
This was exactly what you'd expect for a Coachella documentary made by Coachella
What I did like:
- The archival performance footage and the visual representation of the changing music scene.
What I didn’t like:
- The ever-present feeling of watching a corporate PR video; complete with an unnecessary, overlong, awkward defense of the Tupac hologram from comments made by a seemingly insidious news media.
I didn’t expect for this to make me cry like a fucking baby but I guess given the year we’ve had it makes sense.
Watching the crowd bundled together, a beautiful collective community in tears singing along to emo modern classic “when the party’s over” by Billie Eilish... yeah, I was fucking finished fam 😭
Overall, this made me so so grateful that I got to grow up in parts of this era and it’s Australian festival equivalents in the 2000s and 2010s like Big Day Out, Splendour in the Grass etc.
Now aged 30 and at the end of a nasty nasty year of isolation and covid, I realised recently that this is probably the longest time in my…
I’m biased because Coachella is truly some life changing shit and going in 2015 was magical.
Very informative, I didn’t know the story behind how this incredible event began. I did want a little more elaboration on the behind-the-scenes aspect of the founder’s narrative because I have read that there were certainly more controversial stories about some people that were briefly mentioned in the making of the festival. But despite this...the series of one iconic performance after another is more than enough to satisfy this doc. Incredible footage here. Truly a juggernaut of a festival, very enjoyable to watch and just hear the great music that’s being played year after year!
And what performances!! Gotdamn so many great ones over the years...truly a joy to watch and relive some!!
I thoroughly enjoyed that quite a bit.
Damn, now I wanna go to Coachella! 😢
That was a very well made documentary! Good Job YouTube for putting this out there!
4/5
The amount of Tame Impala made me happy. Honestly changed my look on this festival completely, might have to go check it out. I am a consistent attendee of Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits but the production here seems unreal. NOTHING will beat the Bonnaroo feels though.
Lo mas interesante fueron las partes relacionadas a la música y artistas, lo demas equis
It would have been interesting to see them go into detail about setting up for a weekend, like if they had the cameras follow them around during the prep to see all the “behind the scenes stuff” before during and after the show, but nonetheless an interesting documentary. Can’t say I was disappointed, but can’t say I loved it either.
Great documentary about Coachella. I’ve never been but learning all about the history of the festival was very cool. Highly recommend if you like music and concerts.
As safe, slight and glossy as a doco can get. But hardly a criticism when that's clearly the aim. The crystal-clear footage and the transitions between years of sets makes its existence more than worthwhile.
Looking back this was more like a commercial for the festival than an actual documentary
If this was made as pro-Coachella propaganda it fuckin' worked, cuz I got chills at the Beyoncé and Black Pink performances and I was in tears when Tame Imp's "Patience" came on
It definitely made me realize the thing I miss the most this 2020 was concerts.
watched this over the summer. ‘twas informative, visceral, and made me miss those desert days in the polo fields.
It's really average, only good for the moments when you get to say "hey, I listen to that artist!"
This is a pretty long advertisement, but it was worth it to see the HD Daft Punk footage.
Watched at home on YouTube.
