Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch I - Koudou, Kôdo Giasu: Hangyaku no Rurûshu I - Kôdô, CODE GEASS: Lelouch of the Rebellion I - Initiation
So, it’s a heavily abridged telling of around 75 percent of the first season, and yet it feels both too long AND too short to be a proper movie?
I get it, rough task trying to condense 48 episodes into three movies, so I wasn’t expecting this to be all that ‘good’- for context, we’re watching these as a refresher to watch the 38 billion sequel and side films, but I haven’t seen this show in around 7 or 8 years. The first season of Code Geass, however, is a story filled with great ideas and a lot of the execution is pretty uniformly excellent. A tense political thriller about constantly shifting alliances and the battle of anarchy versus the…
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (or Geass for short) was one of the most popular anime of the 2007/8 years and the fact that it is still popular 10 years after its released speaks to its quality, its characters, and to the love the fans have for it. A creation that only could be anime Geass combines the high melodrama of feuding royal families, and high school relationships with serious questions of right and wrong with some mecha action thrown in for good measure.
10 yeas after then it seems is the perfect time for a release of movies that condense the original 50 episode run into 3 two hour movies just before a third season is launched. There's…
Can you even call this Code Geass when there isn't a single Pizza Hut logo in the entire thing?
Seriously though, this is pretty good. I'm not going to go over why Code Geass is good because if you don't like it you're just wrong, but instead focus on this adaptation of the original anime. They fortunately leave the animation alone for the most part, using direct shots from the original. The few new scenes are well animated but do stand out a little (notably Rakshata's introduction). The first two and a half episodes are preserved almost completely intact in the first act of this film, so there's literally no difference from the TV series. It does seem like they…
Legendary tales are passed down from generation to generation. The tales of yore were often retold with minor alterations over time for one reason or another. Sometimes it was simply to update it for current times, other times it was merely for not remembering everything. Such stories were enduring for ages despite the very real possibility of being lost to time. Works such as Grendel owe their survival to the acts of translation and retelling. However, this idea is not exclusive to literature and family tales that remained unwritten; films and television series got this treatment as well.
Almost a decade after the saga of Lelouch came to an end, the magnificent bastards over at Studio Sunrise brought the old…
I mean, for a TV series which has 50 episodes long, deals with a lot of conflicts and introduces a hell lot of casts with different background, identity, and ideology, to be shortened into 3 movies with only 2 hours long for each entries that not only has to capture the main idea of the series, but also has to be as engaging as the original, is pretty much an impossible task. But it's still pretty much 55% Code Geass.
I’ve reviewed this before so I’ll keep it short. This movie is probably one of the best recap movies out there. It summarizes most of the first season of the show, while adding some twists and new scenes. One really nice touch is the new music, which fits right in with the original score. I love Code Geass, and therefore I love this movie. The only thing that could make it better for me, would be if they had decided to dub it. It is also worth noting that this is the first part of the new canon that Re;surrection is in.
As a fan of the original, I’m really happy to see Code Geass back in the limelight. This movie summarizes a bunch of content, and several scenes are shown in different orders. Much of the original fighting is cut, however there are some new cool scenes. This movie also changes certain events, and as such, is on a new timeline. I think they did this so that fans of the original wouldn’t have to worry about the new stuff ruining the old stuff. Either way, I think this movie is actually pretty decent. The music sounds great, and the animation is splendid. While it’ll never be better than what came before it, it’s still pretty solid. What I like most…
Lelouch raw so much drip on god bro fr fr siscon epic keikaku Suzaku reddit
pizza hut is gone from this movie it brings it down so much.
Medicore compression of all the least interesting parts of R1 and none of the school parts that made the season fun. The Gurren Mk2 and Lacelot fights are still cool but this shit feels longer than if I just watched half of R1. Nothing changed so not necessary for Re;surrection.
An above average summary that filters most of the useless or annoying fluff out of the story. New scenes make it smoother than a simple recut but a few jumps are still odd. A major improvement : the poor cliffhangers were removed !
Score: 7/10
Enjoyment: 3/5
I watch a lot of anime recap movies and this is by far the best one ive run across. Perfectly hit the most important story details and never felt to confusingly or rushed.
Yeah you get a little less characterization but this is at least 16 or so episodes in one movie.
Over all perfect though and these would be much easuer to get someone to watch with you iver the whole series.
Plus way less student council shit so thats a huge plus!

AAAAAH, pongo esta portada porque no hay series acá creo x) y bueno, hoy terminé las dos temporadas de Code Geass y no tengo nada más que decir excepto que es MARAVILLOSA, es la idea de anime perfecto materializada, no hay más. MASTERPIECE
I love the original Code Geass anime, and I went into this film fully expecting to love it as much as the orignal, but it just couldn't recapture the magic of the anime in my opionion. I know these movies are supposed to be a recap to prepare for Re;Surrection, but they only focus on the action elements and not the slice of life parts, which were some of the most enjoyable parts. And even though it's just a recap movie, they changed some minor things, which just confuse fans of the originals. Overall, not great for new viewers of the series, and not good for returning fans unless they really just need a recap of the anime and don't want to spend a few extra hours for higher quality.
The first in a trilogy that leads to the Lelouch of the Resurrection Movie! Very good and still as exciting as the original anime series.
There is so much I want to say about this show. It’s amazing. It’s so good. I don’t have much of anything bad to say about the show what so ever. Well first let’s get out of the way the fan service in this show. Great. I now have a crush on Kallen for the rest of my life. I have so much I want to talk about it’s hard for me to type it all on my phone so I think I’ll just hold on to these memories I have. Just know I recommend this show whole heartedly.
