Maybe I don't want to see a film about white supremacy used as a tool for the Western neocolonial matrix be done as a flippant work of tossed off meta-journalism right now.
I usually find documentarian Mads Brügger's trademark artifice pretty entertaining. I'm a big fan of The Red Chapel (even if it ultimately amounts to nothing) and The Ambassador was funny and enraging enough.
But his gonzo journalism and structural contortions to keep audience engagement fails him here.
Maybe he's not doing anything different from his usual schtick. Maybe, for me, it's this moment that we're in here in the United States. Maybe it's the weight of the subject matter.
Maybe it's time for Mads Brügger to take something…
