  the private and the public. german middle-class, socially secured, risk free, monotonous.

  "don't make a drama out of everything" he says and then gets beaten up by her. she is a teacher, he a cop. no social ruptures, not even traumata. this is "only" about the ineptitude of interpersonal coalescing. a relationship slowly going off the rails, falling apart en passant. the film gives us "no dramatization" - as the man wishes - but a tragedy of epic proportions. scenes of a marriage.

  Jan Bonny uses the theme of domestic violence and reverses it as abstraction. that's a bold move put pays off because he can rely on his strong cast for an adequate character painting. Brandt and Trauttmansdorff know…

  Had verwacht dat deze film toch wel wat bekender is, 0 reviews en minder dan 100 ratings lol

  Ontzettend zwartgallig, klein drama over huiselijk geweld.
  De film is typisch Berlijnse school, er gebeurt niet zo veel, blijft erg "miniem" en je voelt je rotslecht tijdens het kijken.

  Soms wel even een pauzetje genomen omdat de materie in deze film best wel heavy is, ook de acteerprestaties zijn ontzettend goed wat de sfeer van de film zeer zeker ten goede komt.
  Ik ben blij dat de acteurs na deze film toch wel een aanzienlijke carrière hebben kunnen uitbouwen.

  Wel jammer dat men blijkbaar geen statief voor de camera beschikbaar hadden. Stoorde me soms wel een beetje, alhoewel dit misschien best pietleuterig is.

  Aanrader toch wel, zeker eens bekijken als je deze film ergens ziet liggen in een rek of op het internet.
