This is...this is not a good movie. It comes at you from the "director" of That's My Boy who clearly has the skill to turn a camera on and point it at people who are talking. Will Ferrell's charm fades in a few short scenes in which he goes from lovable, downtrodden dweeb to straight-up awful husband and step-father. At least at the end Marky Mark's toxic macho image is shed? Yay, hugging kids and having feelings!
Also of note is that this film was backed by a production company which used money illegally diverted from a Malaysian government investment fund to bankroll films such as Wolf of Wall Street and Dumb and Dumber To. So the fact that Daddy's Home had a budget of $69 million is not just a crime against common sense, it might be a crime in the literal sense.
