A massively disappointing follow up to Threat Level Midnight, I expected more from Michael Scott.
Stitched together like a poorly made Lifetime movie, Dangerous Lies lacks the biting storyline, logic, suspense, and visuals that would catapult it into something remotely serviceable. In fact, it’s unrelentingly sloppy, maddeningly silly, and slightly boring, which unfortunately makes this play out in a rather tedious fashion that did not work for me. It might be a tolerable watch if you go in with minimal expectations, but it was simply too audaciously boring and ridiculous for me to entirely ignore.

Dangerous Lies is the prime example of “how not to make a thriller if you want to to appeal to anyone other than the fan-base of this Riverdale girl.” Is that too specific? Whilst not overstaying it’s welcome, Dangerous Lies makes for a predictable snooze fest.

It's one of the bad Netflix films... you know the type.
Dangerous Lies is a suspense thriller... and not like The Usual Suspects or something good, mostly like the ones your grandparents would read on a beach vacation, but executed poorly for the small screen. It's a mix of manufactured morals, dumb twists, and boring scenes reliant on the fame of one person who is in a kind of popular TV show.
Being the president of the Camila Mendes Simp Club is the hardest job on earth because all we get is Riverdale and crap like this.
For the first two thirds, this movie was twice as good as it ended up being. It wasn't actually "good" in any sane sense of the word, but despite myself I found that I was actually intrigued enough to want to finish the story. It was mostly boring, no doubt about it, but it did have a few faintly glimmering moments of actual shot composition that felt very VERY vaguely Hitchcockian, a few transitions that were pretty cool, and...actually that's it. But still that's not nothing.
Then the twist in the third act comes and…
