Bring out all your superheroes, tear down all the CGI cities you want or destroy complete planets for all I care, I will always prefer this kind of pure action. And Baxley was quite good at it in those years. Dolph Lundgren too, that's a pretty sweet roundhouse kick early on, but his ruthless cop is also having a bad day as his partner goes down. In comes a new one. A by the book fed. That means male bonding while they have to bring down a gang of drug dealers called The White Boys. A slick bunch with cool sports cars and fancy outfits. Nice. Watched it on VHS back in the day. Obviously my heart grew fonder over time because revisiting the film, I found the production value isn't nearly as sophisticated as I thought it was. (Love Craig R. Baxley's follow-up Stone Cold though) Still not sure why the film was retitled Dark Angel. I Come in Peace is a perfect title for this film.

Yeah, its 'I Come In Peace', the European title Dark angel is terrible. FAVORITE DOLPH. I love this freakin' movie.

Bargain-bin rehash of The Hidden, with Dolph Lundgren facing off against an alien with Compact Disc weaponry and slithering needles that stick into the chest of his victims. Lundgren wears an excellent jacket for most of the movie, and a majority of the budget goes toward the pyrotechnics. So many wonderful explosions.
Wie irreführend doch das Erscheinungsjahr ist, denn "Dark Angel" ist so was von 80er wie "E.T.", "Die Goonies" oder eben wie die wohl großen Vorbilder "Terminator" und "Highlander".
Gerade diese zwei Werke spiegelt der Film in allen Belangen wieder.
Die Aliens sehen in ihren weiten Mäntel wahrlich aus wie MacLeod und das Worldbuilding könnte gerade das L.A aus "Terminator" sein.
Frei nach den 80ern gibt es denn dazu passenden Soundtrack mit den markanten Charakteren und Sprüchen sowie in bester Manier den 80er Actionheld in Form von Dolph Lundgren.
Fazit: ein kleiner Punktabzug wegen den zu häufigen Wiederholungen eines trotzdem sehr gelungen Films aus den 90ern der eigentlich in die 80er gehört.

Dark Angel is a cops vs. drug pushers picture with an intergalactic twist and all the 80s action tropes that you love to see. the badass renegade cop who wants revenge for his dead partner? check. the tight ass FBI yes-man who just wants to follow orders? check. a shit load of cheesy one-liners and hilarious dialogue? check. more than a dozen cars that light up like the fourth of july? check. a car chase through a shopping centre? check.…

Who doesn't want to see Dolph Lundgren roundhouse kicking a futuristic alien mullet man? Quite a fun watch overall with aliens battling across the city throw in some special effects, alien weaponry, lots of over-the-top explosions and you have one hell of an action movie. One of Dolphs better movies from this time period and he's pretty good in it delivering his one-liners one of which they spend the entire movie setting up!

Like a Sergio Martino movie with actual cash behind it, a film so wilfully brainless but oh so willing and wanting to please that its villain is credited as 'Bad Alien.' This is the rare sort of ripoff that almost transcends its influences, adding enough new elements to the stew that the jacked ideas feel more like inspiration than they do a crutch. Sure, there's more than a little of Predator and The Hidden here, but who cares when you've got Bad Alien murdering people with CDs? How did this thing flop??
Dolph Lundgren is a tough cop who doesn't play by the rules and trusts his instinct (stop me if you've heard this one before). Brian Benben is a short FBI agent who over-analyzes everything. And Betsy Brantley is the coroner who saws into people's skulls and is Dolph's love interest even though her 80's hairstyle basically makes her look like someone's mom instead. The three of them come together to fight an alien from outer space who is farming humans by injecting them with heroin, then spiking them in the brains and stealing endorphin juice, for the ultimate high.
