This really just didn’t quite hold up on a rewatch. I seem to remember liking much more when I saw it last (inebriated I believe) and while it’s not great, it still has some good parts to it. Slightly Off Jeffrey Combs and Crazy Diane Salinger are always a good thing and this is Salinger at peak level insane so it’s worth watching for that alone. The whole “ghost in the machine” idea wasn’t terrible, but the way it was done was really eye rolly with the screen flashing “system failure” and whatnot.
There are lots of cool villains in this, including a creepy half-clown with an axe, but the best is the Fingernail Wraith shown on the poster and…
Writer-director Darin Scott moves Jeffrey Combs from Dr. Vannacutt to master of ceremonies in this shadow of House on Haunted Hill. His entrepreneur enlists aspiring actors to work his latest haunted attraction inside a house once host to a massacre. After the projection system falls to a ghost in the machine, patrons and workers must survive holographic ghouls turned real.
Combs, whose character is also given an ex to bicker with, had to know since he relishes the role as much as Vincent Price and Geoffrey Rush. Like so many of his performances, the actor cranking charisma is the reason to see Dark House, which isn't a tenth of its inspiration otherwise. The disc includes a package hosted by Cerina Vincent for Fangoria Frightfest's titles. An attempt to compete with After Dark's Horrorfest now all ancient history in this era of streaming. Watched via Phase 4 Films's DVD.
Exceeded by expectations by a long shot. Killer holograms due to a haunted computer virus? Jeffrey Combs as an over the top horror entertainer? A fun cast of characters? Perfect to watch for some mindless fun.
Hired to play parts in a mogul's new horror attraction, a troupe of actors arrives at a reputedly haunted house to prepare for the place to open find the past's grisly secrets coming back to kill them one by one and forcing them to battle their way through the attractions.
This one was actually a lot of fun and manages to have a lot of good stuff about it. A large part of this one is the film’s startling atmosphere throughout here as the setting is fantastically used and milked for it's worth.starting off with a stellar backstory here about the abusive owner and the fate of her and the children in here come start this off nicely, and from…
Many years after a horrific murder took place there, a haunted attraction mogul rigs the house for an unprecedented haunted house experience. A group of actors are brought in but the spirit of the killer turns it into something much more real. Not a terrible or original idea, but it’s not awful. Horror royalty Jeffrey Combs stars along with Meghan Ory.
A little CGI heavy, whereas the CGI isn’t all that great but adds to the cheesiness.
A fun movie that had me confused at the end.
A foster house is the scene of a mass killing.
Jeffrey Combs decides to open a haunted attraction there using a combination of holograms and real actors.
He hires some locals and one of them happens to have been traumatized by the murders and this is her way to make peace with her demons.
The computers go bat shit crazy and the holograms come to life. Some cool killings and gore mixed with some piss-poor digital EFX.
The story is lame, the lines are goofy and Jeffrey Combs does a bang up job overacting in his role.
Some hotties in this one. Erin Cummings, Meghan Maureen McDonough, Bevin Prince, and the lovely star Meghan Ory.
Some twists in this forced me to rewatch the opening and ending to figure out who was who.
A bunch of acting students take a job at a new, hi-tech haunted house attraction that's resides in a house where a bunch of children were killed. What a coincidence! One of the actors was the sole survivor of this mass murder.
If you've ever watched the movie Re-Animator, odds are you're a huge fan of Jeffrey Combs. I am too. Re-Animator is one of those movies I've watched countless times, and Herbert West is one of the greatest characters in horror. That movie made him into a Horror icon! Sadly, it was probably the last good movie he was in. Sure there were a few more RE-Animator movies, and he did a bunch of other decent HP Lovecraft flicks,…
I realise I'm about ten years behind the rest of the world, but I think I'm finally done with watching movies just because Jeffrey Combs is in them 💔
Sure, it's a fairly standard slasher flick with an overused twist, but I like slasher flicks, god damn it, and sometimes all I need is a fun, creepy gorefest to pass 90 minutes. And this more than handily does the job.

Group of actors (Led by teacher Jeffrey Combs) work a haunted house powered by an AI holographic technology that makes the monsters seem real. When a malfunction happens the monsters become all too real.
Dumb in a fun way. The differing creatures looked cool and there were a couple of cool yet very CGI Kills. Still was in the favor of this type of horror. Felt like a time capsule of the early 2000s. Also Combs hamming it up always helps
Check it out
Every time I watch a b-horror movie with Jeffrey Combs I need to remind myself that just because it's a b-horror movie with Jeffrey Combs, doesn't mean that it's going to be good. He always steals the show but unfortunately some bad films can't be saved.
Cool concept but the characters were flat as hell and CGI on a budget never does well. The 2000s haunted computer virus visuals and the lesbian jokes were funny tho.
