Una esposa para papá
Seasonal and saccharine, but I appreciated how it was sweet and not religious. The plot is ludicrous, but it also allows it to be very cute. Some absurd laughs sprinkled in.
One star since it brought me joy. Half a star for Amy Acker (Fred from Angel!). And a half star for having so much pink in the movie.
Sandy cried. She's 78. Still dances like she's in her fifties though, haha. Funky spirit. Love her.
It's probably exactly what you'd expect lol, don't consider this me hyping it up. Was fun for me though.

Flounder's Cinema Snobathon II
0/10 film.
A film so awful that it somehow has the power to make you hate Amy Acker, Dear Santa represents the worst of what romantic comedies have to offer, the worst of what Hallmark films have to offer, and the worst of what Christmas films have to offer, especially in regards to its entitled and spoiled rotten main character who would work far better as a psychological slasher villain than as the hero in a holiday love story.
I've recently deduced that every bad Christmas film centers around the female protagonist either being a rich girl that's going to be cut off by her parents OR responsible for saving something like the family's beloved blueberry farm, a horse ranch, or even a whole kingdom.
So imagine my delight when I realized that this film has BOTH of those absurd tropes! When that eviction notice came in the mail I hollered.
At the end of this film when Amy Acker realizes she has to use her final $10,000 allowance to save the homeless shelter, she comes to the realization because she sees a homeless woman asking for money outside her building. Instead of stopping to give the woman some money, she runs in the other direction to call a taxi to get to the bank. Truly great cinema.
Look, I'm all in for Christmas romances in all their cheesy, heavy-handed glory, but this "movie" (THIS movie!) is infuriatingly terrible.
To save yourself the trouble, here's the plot:
Self-centered socialite is cut off from her mother's fortune and is given an ultimatum: either get a job or get married by Christmas (Which, while par for the course for this type of film, is such a dumb ass deadline. Seriously? Why not just give her 6 more days until the end of the year?) Anyway, she accidentally intercepts a child's letter to Santa, and like any rational person, decides that - instead of popping the letter back in the little ol' mailbox - she'll commit a little light mail fraud…
This was so bad, oh my god. Usually, I only hate one side of a couple in a Christmas movie but, wow, both of the leads were just horrible people; incredibly selfish and annoying. The token gay character was one of the most stereotypical portals of a gay man I've ever seen, too. Just so much no all around.
Someone needs to write a book about how to survive as a fan of Amy Acker from these awful movies she stars in.
I had half a bottle of wine and I let my mom pick the movie. But I watched the whole thing because GUESS WHAT?! Turns out I would do anything for Amy Acker 😔
the painfully stereotypical gay character talking about hot dogs “or whatever you boys eat at those games”......unreal
1) why does crystal not know what a can opener is
2) amy ily but why
3) pete our gay christmas icon
4) what the fuck
Incredibly cheesy to begin with but greatly improved as it continues because of the weapons grade charm of Amy Acker whose performance as a wide-eyed, sweet-natured optimist strikes the same chord as that of a different Amy - Amy Adams in ENCHANTED.
Amy Acker is so cute even though she’s basically playing a crazy stalker in this one.
Also the fact that Jason Priestley of all people directed is kind of blowing my mind.
A woman (Amy Ackers) from privileged rich background falls for the owner of a soup kitchen after she finds his daughter's letter to Santa.
A perfectly fine sugary sentimental slush fest that is at unpredictable as the sun rising in the morning. However unlike the Hallmark terrors, this has a niceness about it that ensures you don't hate it
It's not going to win any awards or do anything even vaguely brave or original but it does what it's supposed to. And yeah it did manage to tug on the heart strings a little at times. Only s little though.
Helped hugely by the fact that Amy Ackers (who had been in loads of TV e.g Angel, Dollhouse and such) actually can act with some cute character to her.
Does what it says on the tin..
I don’t FUCKING care this movie was literal chaotic psychotic evil and I loved every fucking second.
Wowwww what a hot pile of trash. I watched this specifically to see how bad it was and did it ever exceed my expectations. The worst of every one of the categories it falls into with some really stereotypical LGBT+ non-representation, a script that is just riddled with blandness, and no development for characters that are flat and stale. But that's okay cause all the lying, stalking, plotting, and super shady/actually illegal shit is forgiven as long as there's a kiss thrown in at the end to wipe the slate clean, right? RIGHT? THAT'S ROMANCE.
"I hope it's not too late to start listening to my heart."
My heart tells me stalkers are fucking creepy. BEGONE.
and OH MY GOD who makes a bet with a homeless person - who is homeless because of their GAMBLING PROBLEM - to manipulate them into doing something?! What the ACTUAL fuck that is NOT OKAY
