This short film accompanied the Film Movement DVD release of Jasper Jones.
Well this was a quirky little bit. A child-friendly bleak little fable as if co-written by Tim Burton and Neil Gaiman. The use of paper cut-out animals and puppets provided a certain surrealism that almost put this at a midway point betwen being a stage show and a movie. It's got it's little dark moments here and there - all from a child's perspective. The mean aunt, the ghost girl - the cultivating papery carrots from the ground - all narrated by Tilda Swinton.
Short and sweet, this quirky little number is quite a unique specimen. I was almost reminded of a low-budget reenactment of a childrens book while the book was being read outloud.
