One of my personal favorite ’To-Go’ feel good watches. Been more than 10 years, since I first watched it, but the love and freshness hasn’t faded a single bit, even after so many rewatches. Maybe not all from this gen might connect to it, but for those who do, it is a treasured experience loaded with nostalgia.
A refreshing coming of age drama that dwells with romance, heartbreaks, friendship & bromance of 3 childhood friends. The trio of Aamir khan, Saif Ali Khan & Akshaye khanna ooze life into their well written characters, forming the heart n soul of the movie. Akshay as Sid, and his delicate love story with an older women has been handled in a sensible and mature manner. The drama balances the emotions between each relationship quite well. The music and dialogues are a major contributor for its cult status today. An evergreen refreshing ride.

a long time blindspot for me; maybe i'm overrating this but i'm in total awe of the restrained shot choices, the almost mann-esque approach to intimacy, the reverence for Bollywood melodrama that informs the narrative, one that is purely about how we understand, misunderstand, and reconcile with love (male friendships are SO DAMN BEAUTIFUL)
perhaps this movie just hit me at the right time, a time when i'm contemplating my future and questioning what my purpose is -- but a certainty is that NO industry is as real about male friendship as Bollywood. It always frustrates me when American films revert to fake macho posturing (and demean women in the process) when dealing with stuff like this.
cherish your friendships, reflect on your mistakes, rebuild a bridge, always remind your family that you love them...

These Letterboxd reviews focus more on Aamir Khan's soul patch rather than actual reviews. But yeah, I couldn't resist noticing it. What were they thinking? Maybe it's the metaphor that the movie also patches the soul.
Part of my Bollywood Challenge
This debut feature by writer-director Farhan Akhtar also happened to be my first viewing of his work, and I was surprised to learn that all of the principle actors were new to me as well. Apparently Hrithik Roshan, whom I had seen before, was asked to take the role of Siddharth Sinha but turned it down, causing some substantial recastng and resulting in this fresh-faced ensemble.
