There's something about Riley Keough as a trashy white girl that I just love. She's like the Florida version of Kristen Stewart with all her sleepy eyed charm and bad posture.
This movie was genre bending trailer trash art house, complete with fourth wall breaks, real life docu-style testimonials, extreme close-ups, inanimate camera fixation, etc. Decisions were definitely made regarding pacing, casting and story- sometimes for better, mostly for worse. If you're in the mood for a southern crime/romance/arthouse/drama, I guess watch Dixieland. I mean, it's spotty at best and nothing goes the way you think it would and the story is sometimes awkward or haphazard, but it's got it's wistful southern fried moments that kept me watching. Plus, Faith Hill and Mick Foley cameo so you kind of know you're in for something uneven like, right away.
