I bought this VHS like, months before I decided to watch pre Twin Peaks actors roles in non David Lynch directed movies because tbh, I'm just not quite up to a total re watch so I'm doing this and probably Fire Walk With Me as I just bought that on VHS and only had to also purchase 5 other utterly worthless movies.

unrealistic, unappealing, unfunny & racist romantic "comedy" without anything to recommend beyond some weird gutenberg makeup fx, a briefly-glimpsed romance novelist convention straight outta SHE DEVIL, kyle maclachlan's lesbian body language, some nice charleston photography and shelley long's oafish goon of a 3 yr old daughter she keeps having to stop from licking electrical outlets & drinking poison. this movie is dogshit.
Romance novelist Shelley Long helps her bald, overweight, cancer-survivor cartoonist brother (played by Steve Guttenberg) tap that Jami Gertz ass. She whips him into shape with a steady cardio regiment and gives him a complete makeover (after his hair has grown back, of course) by having him cosplay as a Kiwi amalgamation of Dog The Bounty Hunter & Chuck Norris from his film, The Hitman. An extremely odd romantic-comedy from beginning to end, the weirdest thing being that it failed to make me laugh once throughout the entire runtime. Not even Twin Peaks alumni Kyle MacLachlan and Mädchen Amick could save this thing. Also, Guttenberg's bald & fat-faced prosthetics are absolutely horrendous. This insane stinker is creep central!

This is either a totally terrible movie, or secretly a brilliant satire that attempts to reveal that nearly all Hollywood rom-com characters are actually psychotic.

Steve Guttenburg plays some dude with cancer and he’s all bald and fucked up looking from chemo. He has a crush on some chick so he disguises himself like some Dog the Bounty Hunter guy and the chick starts falling in love with him. It’s fucking ridiculous. Also Kyle MacLauchlin is in this as a minor character. I would have given this a least another star if Kyle MacLauchlin and Steve Guttenburg switched roles. Goddamn Stonecutters.
