I kept on waiting for the drop. It never came. It's hard to say when "Eden" loses steam exactly, but it doesn't take that long. And once it does, it just keeps going... and going... and going... The performances are good enough (even if the characters and their arcs are rather uninteresting), and the music's decent, but this is just barely enough to keep "Eden" afloat. It's sadly quite the slog. I hardly ever say this when describing a film, but it's boring. This is a film about music! raves! drugs! sex! It should be exciting! It should at least have a pulse!
Look, I know next to nothing about electronic music. The artists that I love that fall into the genre are more aligned with post-punk or krautrock scenes. But even with my limited knowledge of the French electronic, I can tell you the scene deserves a film with a little more substance, a little more energy than "Eden."
