This home invasion/rape-revenge film isn't the easiest watch in the world although it being lumped in with the likes of Last House on the Left and I Spit on Your Grave as a video nasty was unfortunate. This tells a story of three escaped convicts who target a religious black family and subject them to racist humiliation, violence, and rape. The father who initially is more concerned with doing anything to survive soon turns the tables on the scumbags when they rape his daughter. It's not easy viewing by any means the racial slurs really make it an uncomfortable viewing experience most of the time and the scene where one of the convicts beats a child to death with a brick was pretty shocking but with that said you do get an ending that leaves you satisfied. I won't be for everyone but it's definitely worth seeking out if you are a fan of exploitation cinema.
As seventies home invasion exploitation flicks go, Fight for Your Life is particularly mean spirited! The film takes obvious influence from the likes of The Last House on the Left, but does the theme with racial undertones as we watch a trio of criminals invade the home of a black minister. Much of the dialogue is made up of racial slurs, and it does get quite horrendous. The lead villain has to be one of the most easy to hate characters ever commited to screen. This creates tension between the head of the household - a non-violent Christian man. But then again, everyone has their limits! The production values on this one are surprisingly good considering the material and every…
Messed up May 2023 - Nasty edition
Take a shot every time you hear a 70s style racial slur...
🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥴
It may just help to make it through this grim and plain nasty tale of three escaped murderers who invade the home of a minister and his family, then proceed to rape, assault and kill anyone in their way before minister Ted finally loses his shit and seeks his hardcore retribution.
Violent mayhem ensues.
The Video Nasty Files: A History of Prosecuted, Banned and Seized Film
I can't think of a script that likely made every actor think longer and harder about accepting the part than this one.
Given that the film's biggest speaking role is roughly 80% vicious racial slurs, it's a wonder this has any value other than shock. It's the only Video Nasty I've seen that earns that status more through graphic verbal violence than physical (although there's plenty of that too). Somehow, though, it's an ugly masterwork of tension and brutality, anchored by William Sanderson as a goddamn volcano of hate.
I'll never hear "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" the same way again, and that's for the better.
Stop me if you've heard this one.
An American, a Mexican and a Chinaman break into a black family's house... I'd better stop there before I get myself into trouble, but funnily this is the set up for this video nasty that's been at the top of my watchlist for a while now.
A home invasion/race revenge(?) flick where three escaped convicts take a black family hostage so they can hole up and let the heat cool on their trail of destruction cross country.
What would otherwise be your standard home invasion exploitationer differs in its very deliberate emphasis on race and racism as leader of the gang Kane (played with weasley, psychotic perfection by William Sanderson) spends most of…
Aaand another fun flick from the grimy seventies. Home invasion horror with three psychos on the run. A redneck, a Latino and an Asian killing some time (and more) at a black family's residence. Grindhouse style. Nasty, vicious and cruel; you bet, but shocking? No, not really. To me it's just like good comedy, strange as that may sound. It requires build-up, pacing, timing and such. None of that here. It's just one loud ongoing mess of mostly racial insults and pointless violence.
Especially the ring leader of the bunch, Kane, just won't shut up. You have to hate him, but he's more annoying than anything else. I missed somebody like David Hess here. What also doesn't help is Endelson's…
The Last Klan Rally On the Left. Wholly unpleasant Blax home invasion picture, where Will Sanderson may play the most racist monster in the history of cinema. Builds to a rather intense moment of catharsis, that’s accented by a sick sense of perverse irony. Everyone’s a bigot here. This is America, after all.
This is pure, raw, unrelenting exploitation. Brutal, mean, and offensive as hell. I fuckin’ loved it.
Surprisingly effective and inventively staged, especially for a cheap exploitation thriller directed by a dentist.
Definitely going to start yelling "grey garbage" during road rage now.
52 Years in 52 Weeks 2019: Film #32
Ruthless exploitation film with an amazing performance by William Sanderson as one of the scummiest screen villains ever. One of the actors is credited as "Dick Punch", possibly the dog.
Wonderfully uplifting tale of 'Home Invasion' with plenty of jokes along the way to keep you giggling.
