The Escort - Sex Sells
With a stylish look and engaging performances, this whole thing is way more charming than a story about a sex addict who's getting a relationship with an escort has any right to be. The edgy subject matter has been handled in surprisingly well mannered fashion. Sex addiction is treated as just another possible obstacle that could get in the way of a relationship and is stripped down from most of the unease, resulting in something rather easygoing and conventional. And you know what? I liked it.
It slightly explores the problematics that come with his addiction and for her being an escort, but it never dives too deep, creating a sense of ease with it all, acceptance even to a…
Were you expecting a blow job right out of the gate?

I'm going to be honest here, the only reason I watched this was because it's a new film featuring the almighty chin himself, Bruce Campbell! It's been a few years since he's had a significant role in a feature film and he's great here... in a supporting role as the father of the actual lead Michael Doneger.
Considering that Doneger portrays a sex addict journalist that may, or may not fall for an escort, the film is incredibly tame. It's not without it's charm, mostly due to Lyndsy Fonseca, but it's still predictable and doesn't offer anything new to the realm of unconventional love stories. They even name…
A small-scale romantic comedy about a call-girl and a sex addict, Will Slocombe's "The Escort" is a surprisingly sweet and good-natured piece of work. Revolving around the workplace relationship of a sex worker and a carnally driven journalist, the film ticks off all the appropriate rom-com boxes while providing a light-weight and entertaining experience.
An observation of love, friendship, sex, and all the gray in between, Slocombe's film focuses on the push and pull between its two protagonists. A sex worker and slave to its magnetism respectively, the two collide as the journalist puts together a story on the contemporary sex trade.
"The Escort" has enough charm and character to make it all engaging, and Slocombe has no problem delivering…
Believe it or not, a sweet romance between a prostitute and a sex addict. And even though this movie is neutered and there is no sexual chemistry between them, this one was surprisingly pleasing. But don't go expecting anything life changing.
The Escort is very straightforward with its thematic intent: characters using sex as a place holder for unresolved past problems. It's right on the nose in this way. The film is relatively tame considering the subject matter. The humor is pretty bad and it basically plays as a half baked version of Shame and Pretty Woman.
it's just not good.
i didn't really expect anything from watching 'the escort', but i was kind of impressed. but don't get me wrong, it was predictable and sometimes the pacing was a problem. but the writing was good, the actors were really good in their parts. speaking of actors, it's weird seeing bruce campbell in anything besides the evil dead movies and army of darkness. also: i felt some sort of sexual energy between michael doneger and i and it was powerful. i know have a crush on this man. even though, he is a nobody but i hope i see him in some other stuff. and lyndsy fonseca was just a gem and a true MVP of this movie. 'the escort' was a solid movie, in my opinion.
I admittedly went into this one assuming it would be really awful, but I was very pleasantly surprised by it... Lyndsy Fonseca completely knocks it out of the park here as the titular character and really makes this movie shine any time she's on the screen. Bruce Campbell in a supporting role is also a fun time, but how could he not be?
Admittedly, there's a couple pacing issues and the actual main character is a little hit and miss (which is why this isn't a 4.5 and a like), but Fonseca and Campbell are so damn good in this one, that they outdid most of the movie's minor faults. Definitely a fun time for what it's worth.
another movie where the male protagonist is an ‘everyman’ LA caricature indie fuckboy. i don’t love it! this was how i expected it to be, but the music stood out as exceptionally bad. comedic timing actually kind good at a few parts but ya.... for the general story and ‘moral’ - hate
Does straight grindr actually exist in real life or was that an invention of this movie (thinking emoji)
I thought the love interest was a lesbian at first bc her bestie was calling her “babe” and being all affectionate, & then when her bestie ended up having a boyfriend I was like “oh this is a polycule?” But both of those deductions were wrong. Oh well!
I saw a poster for this and mistakenly thought it was a thriller, so I went in with the wrong expectations but even considering that, this was pretty bland in every direction.
Ostensibly a romantic comedy, but it isn't very romantic or very funny.
It has its moments, I guess.
I was pleasantly surprised by by this movie. It had a lot of surprisingly laugh out loud funny moments. I also thought the love story was cute.
