Campy sex comedy / sci-fi spoof of ‘Flash Gordon’. The despicable ‘Emperor Wang the Perverted’ unleashes a powerful sex ray upon the Earth, causing carnal chaos! ‘Flesh Gordon’ embarks on a mission to the planet ‘Porno’ to stop the sex rays and defeat Emperor Wang. Daft, juvenile, stupid, vulgar, sleazy fun. Boasting some fun nods to ‘Flash Gordon’, gratuitous nudity, awful acting, and a threadbare plot. Very much ‘a product of its time’, the easily offended would do well to avoid this film. Featuring some impressive, Harryhausen-level practical vfx (some of which designed by Rick Baker). The plot drags, and much of the humour is hit or miss. Must admit, the thick veins on the Penisaurus caught me off guard and had me belly-laughing.

Earth is in great danger. Emperor Wang the Perverted has cast down his sex ray towards earth, causing people to come down with sex madness. This evil emperor will stop at nothing to get everyone focused on one thing and one thing only: sex. Who will be able to stop him?! It's up to Flesh Gordon, his lady friend Dale, and Doctor Flexi-Jerkoff. Flesh has the muscles, Dale has the body, and Flexi-Jerkoff has the brains; at least that's what I predict will happen.

I first saw this movie when I was in middle school. A friend had somehow obtained a bootleg VHS tape of it (from an older brother I think), and our little misfit cohort managed to watch it three or four times before the tape vanished, likely confiscated by his horrified parents. Turns out, we were the perfect audience for it: a gaggle of porn-starved, adolescent nerds who quoted Monty Python and played D&D while everyone else was playing sportsball or doing whatever it was that the cool kids did in junior high. By sheer coincidence, this makes the second geekboy Ray Harryhausen tribute I’ve seen this week (the first being the relentlessly unpleasant Mad God).

This is a stupid softcore parody of Flash Gordon from 1974, so you could be forgiven for thinking you know exactly what it's like. You'd even be mostly right, except for some crucial (and inexplicably great) visual effects, including some truly Harryhausen-worthy stop-motion animation. Almost never feels overly gross or mean-spirited, and seems to come from a place of real affection not just for the specific comic strip that provides most of the inspiration but for the whole whiz-bang innocence of an earlier era - its time had passed, or at least everyone thought so at the time.

Science-Fiction Erotikkomödie/satire von 1974 aus den USA, die eine Parodie auf die Serie von 1936 ist. Die Entstehungsgeschichte diese Filmes wäre auch Stoff für eine Dokumentation. Die Handlung ist an das original angelehnt, nur mit nehr gaga Humor und Erotik. Die Charaktere passen hier perfekt rein, das sie alle sowas von drüber sind das es ein heiden spass ist ihnen zu zusehen. Finde den Film mit seinem Gaga Humor und den nackten tatsachen ziemlich gut für einen Film dieser art.. Die trasigen Effekte und die (im Rahmen) guten Stop-Motion Effekte runden das ganze für mich ab.

In a softcore space opera porn crammed with deadly penisauri, rapist robosapiens, phallic motherships, and writhing bodies clad in spangled capes and spider hats and power pasties, my favorite special effect was Wang the Perverted's crusty mask of yellow face. His eyes leering through jagged holes, tongue protruding from a lopsided mouth carved into a scowl. Sure, the jokes thud and the (semblance of a) plot drags, and any nudie tete a tete resembles blind slugs mating more than passionate human intercourse. But I'll still see Wang when my head hits the pillow. I'll see his drooping over-rouged face when I shut my eyes.
The exuberance of an old-school adventure serial -- featuring some of the greatest lo-fi special effects this side of Equinox & Ray Harryhausen -- meets the hilarious sloppiness of an overly ambitious porno.
To put it into perspective, there's a split-diopter shot with the upper half focusing on our heroes and the bottom half on the hapless orgy member who had a jewel shoved up her hoo-hah. And that's before a sassily-stepping monster voiced by Craig T. Nelson joins the party.

At several places in the world, cosmic radiation is suddenly turning people into super horny sex craving maniacs. The world looks to Professor Gordon for an answer, but he's not sure about the cause of this. He sents his son, Flesh Gordon, together with Flesh's female companion Dale and scientist Dr. Flexi Jerkoff into space in a dick-shaped rocketship to investigate. Soon they find that Emperor Wang the Perverted from the planet Porno is behind this earthly catastrophe. It's up to Flesh Gordon to defeat the Emperor and save planet Earth!

A thing of beauty with genuine heart. SURE it's borderline porn, but all the real hardcore stuff was cut out before anyone could be tainted by such a sight. This parody really takes the source material to heart and the comedy is really smart. Everyone played their part with their whole hearts.
