kind of turned me on when he f*cks a decapitated head, kms
"I'm going to get in trouble for this. I'm going to get in trouble and I don't care"
A promising premise translated into a grossly disturbing end product. Bullied school kid, Marty, finds a severed head in his older brother’s closet and discovers his sibling is a serial killer. In better hands that tagline could have been crystallised into something dark and wonderful, but instead we get a surprisingly-tolerable character study ruined by interlacing scenes of gratuitous torture porn and parricide that leaves a sour taste. Avoid.
Been on my list forever!! & Wow this was messed up. So much more moody than I thought it would be. A lot more of a drama too... something that I found (🤯) myself relating to (not bc of the murder! Lol). Mainly bc of the bullying subplot, I kinda struggled with the same things around the kid’s age. I just thought it was gonna be more of a slasher not an emotional ride.
On the bad... the acting, other than…
dicks: nothing but trouble
half star for opening credit sequence.
half star for the ridiculous prosthetic cock.
Extreme torture porn and gore. Extremely graphic and disturbing. I would not ever want to watch it again; it's a one-and-done type of horror film
The first scene is the amazing,
The final scene is amazing,
The rest? Not so much.
But still an ambitious horror movie and I'll always give credit to new directors for stepping outside the box.
What sucks more than being 12 and getting bullied? Discovering your brother is a serial killer. Disturbing coming of age horror, with an ending that's a kick punch right to the solar plexus.
im pretty sure most people either really like this film or really hate this film and i was kind upset that i turned out to be the latter :(
the final scenes were very good i really liked them a lot but the rest of the movie just wasn't engaging to me? the dad reminded me so much of yogi bear i just could not stop thinking about yogi bear no matter how hard i tried
i got goosebumps during the final shot it was definitely the best part of the entire film for me
Crikey! That was one messed up coming of age story. "This kind of thing can mess a person up" no truer words have been said Marty... It's quite sickening in parts, most of all little Marty's acceptance of all the things going down. He's way to calm about the whole thing. But I guess that's kind of the whole point. It's worth a watch.
see i'm a guy who enjoys some disturbing horror movies like se7en or the evil dead movies but this is just way to much for me. i get that was the point but that does not mean i enjoyed it like the other 2 movies i mentioned.
