Perda Total, ¡Game Over, Man!, Game Over, Man (2018), ¡Game Over, tío!, 你完蛋了,老铁, Гру закінчено, чувак!
This popped up on Netflix at the perfect time for me to chuckle, go "you know what, why not check it out. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised."
I pushed myself to just keep going three times through the first scene and made it to 6:09.
The only convincing explanation for the existence of “Game Over, Man!” is that the brain trust behind Comedy Central’s “Workaholics” got really high on salvia one night and started to wonder what a remake of “Die Hard” might look like if it were written by Judd Apatow, directed by McG, and financed by whatever spare change they had in their pockets. How else to rationalize an action-comedy in which three burnout white dudes (suffering from some very severe bromantic tension) wind up going all “Pineapple Express” on the terrorists who raid the hotel where they work, take a handful of celebrity hostages, and amputate Daniel Stern’s dick? Stranger things have happened, especially on Netflix.
“Game Over, Man!” is exactly the…
guy#1 said to guy#2, after having just killed #2's boyfriend, "IM SORRY I KILLED HIM. I'LL BE YOUR BOYFRIEND!" while being choked by #2 and i laughed so hard i started to choke as well
the funniest part of this was when that guy genuinely thought that saying he was a la la land fan - as opposed to a moonlight one - would make him sound less gay
A comedic homage slash riff on Die Hard whose existence is pointless considering the fact that Die Hard is already a very funny film to begin with, Netflix's Game Over, Man! may have a committed cast and some decent gags here and there, but the overall affair is just a dull, tone-deaf, mostly unfunny experience that has the visual panache of a sitcom and the feel of an overlong episode of Workaholics than it does an actual feature film.
I was all set to write a review that would contain the sentence "It's fair to say that I hated every moment of this" until, at the 93 minute mark, about 30 seconds before the end credits, they did the bit about tall leprechauns and I finally laughed.
It's fair to say that I hated almost every moment of this. It's self-consciously awful and determined to be offensive (it isn't) or vomit-inducing (it isn't) ahead of being actually funny and what's worse about it is that if you say how crap it is on Twitter, the official account for it will vanity search you and make out like they love that you hate it. I hate that.
Then again, it's…
There is nothing at all redeemable about Game Over, Man!. In the pantheon of Die Hard rip-offs, this is the worst, and that is saying something.
This film honestly just feels like a way to scam money from Netflix. The amount of effort on display here is minimal, and the majority of the sets are nondescript hotel rooms, with little to no set dressing. The majority of the action in the film takes place in a conference room with no windows, with people just sitting around on chairs. All the scenes are just boring sequences of people standing around and either making pop culture references, or doing or saying something crass. The film put all its eggs into the shock…
"I'm the most powerful thing in the world: a pissed-off gay dude."
It was FUN, you absolute cowards!
But really, I got a lot of laughs from this. Game Over, Man is the exact kind of movie you're expecting, but maybe a little better. I wouldn't say that this brand of vulgar bro humor is something that generally appeals to me, but that's only because the genre so often uses the veil of comedy to just be generally insensitive and express dangerous beliefs in a funny voice. I was delighted to see that this was much lighter fare, even with a surprising amount of blood in the back half. While definitely underdeveloped, the plot is engaging, and I was invested…
Still as jarring as ever first time hearing Adam calling Ders ‘Darren’, I’m sure the Workaholics massive will understand ! Got a strong love for these 3 n Kyle so i’ll always tune in when they make something and probably always have a good time, even if this doesn’t quite follow through with the promise made from Workaholics
Got to see Marv from Home Alone get his penis cut off so I guess it wasn't a total waste.
Just when you think Netflix Original Movies can’t possibly get any worse this movie is here to prove they can. Because good this just might be the worst Netflix Original and I’m not even kidding. First off this movie is pretty much a Die Hard ripoff only that it takes place at a hotel, the three main characters are some of the most obnoxious, annoying, stereotypical and dreadful characters I’ve seen in a long time. Adam Devine I’ve always thought was a horrendous actor and also really annoying, he is at his worst here everything that comes out of his mouth is pretty much a penis joke and none of them are funny. Obviously the writers think the audience is…
This was like another episode of Workaholics, something right out of the minds of Adam, Blake and Ders. I wondered what this movie was about when it came out and wasn’t interested because I had never seen Workaholics. After I binged that I saw this, made it that much funnier. Imagine if the dudes had a wild story they were telling Alice and at the end of the movie it’s all in their head, it’s that insane of a movie. Lots of funny moments in this movie and twists! I give it four stars because of the cliches of a typical 80s action movie, even if it’s so hyperbolic and from the minds of the three dudes. If you wanna smoke a bowl on a Thursday night, eat some wings and relax, this is your movie.
this is why we shouldn't listen to ppl on tiktok telling us to watch movies huh
I rewatchrd this movie 3 days after my original watch becauze last night i had a vivid and beautiful dream about blake anderson in which we met at a panda express and fell in love. The fact that it was a dream and that this will probably never happen in real life makes me want to cry a little bit
“now i’m the most powerful thing in the world... a pissed off gay dude!”
^^ story of my life tbh...
this movie was really fucking funny to me but also stressful and a little uncomfortable! i like these three. they are dorks. always seem to be up to some wacky workplace antics.
