Synopsis
Truly, madly, deeply... annoying
A widow's attempts to find love are ruined when the ghost of her cheating dead husband joins her on her dates.
2016 Directed by Neville Pierce
A widow's attempts to find love are ruined when the ghost of her cheating dead husband joins her on her dates.
Ghosted is a sweet black and white short comedy about bereavement and the daunting prospect of dating again. Alice Lowe stars as widowed artist Bex, whose cheating husband Nigel (Christien Anholt) died mid bonk in a Portsmouth B+B with a slapper who was "93% silicone", and who is now on the lookout for a new love. The film is episodic, showing various dinner dates in which three is definitely a crowd - Nigel's ghost is in tow you see, and he is very critical of his prospective replacements.
Being a short that deals with death and stars Alice Lowe you perhaps expect something a bit spikier and darker, but this is sweet like honey rather than cider. It's not a very original idea (it put me in mind of Ricky Gervais' Hollywood debut Ghost Town) but it's done with a lightness of touch that makes it all rather charming.
