Raw, dark, electric, and the Hells Angels at the Altamont Speedway – 51 years ago.
This film came out 50 years ago, hard to believe especially as The Rolling Stones would be touring now if it weren’t for a global pandemic.
The performances are brilliant, youthful and still edgy with the backdrop of a death at one of their shows. Tina Turner’s handling of the microphone was sexually charged to say the least.
When I first saw it in my teens I was looking for more concert, less doc. I find the doc more interesting now. I only decided to watch/buy it after watching one of my favourite bands play the El Mocambo Friday night (54-40) and talk of the fabled stories of our prime minister’s mom getting it on with this band, while still married to then prime minister Pierre Trudeau.
