I demand this to be displayed in the Louvre, I demand a museum entirely devoted to the historical significance of Sensha-dou in Japan. Oh my god, I'd never even cared about tanks before this. Five stars, I don't care, you know where the unfollow button is.

You know you're watching something entertaining when you're audibly cheering throughout the entire movie.
This is probably one of the stupidest concepts I've ever heard of. A show about highschool girl's having tankery as an elective. So ofcourse what I did when I heard about it, was to binge through the show and this movie. And god damn it's one hell of a ride. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking out this out. You will not regret it.
Now the movie
This just a pure joy to watch. It has so many dumb scenes and I absolutely love them. This movie makes no big deal out of two tanks having a chase scene on top of a frickin rollercoaster or tanks riding…
ok i lied this is actually the best movie ignore my other reviews tanks are really cool and i like how loud the battle scenes are i wish i could see it in a theater
The perfect action anime I never asked for. Simply non-stop, bombastic, over the top tank warfare with an ensemble cast of cute girls. These 2 hours took a cinematic experience into a woke ass extravaganza. PANZER VOR!
There’s a joke in here whose punchline is knowing the outcome of the Russo-Japanese War. There’s another about the limitations of a specific kind of Soviet tank. Both of these are explained - this film certainly does not require any kind of specialist knowledge to enjoy (though a past experience with Girls und Panzer feels compulsory as the film does not get one up to speed on the premise) but it’s got the grognards in mind, the wargamers who enthuse over many models of tanks. This goes as far as to the characterisation of the teams - the Italian and Japanese tank themed schools (the latter introduced here, Japanese tanks being hardly a focus of the franchise) are largely comic…
For a film with a sport that could never exist, it’s pretty damn fun. Of course I saw the show before this, so the light character building wasn’t too big of a deal for me (except Anchovy, AKA best girl, barely know anything about her). And to compliment the wild tanks, there’s some solid downtime scenes that are much more cozy than I was expecting from this.
There’s also SO many girls. Think about this: 5 tanks per country, and average of 5 girls per tank, most of which are uniquely designed. That’s impressive!
Overall, a good time!
“Behold! The power of the tanquette!”
The day I watched this I was transformed.
I am no longer agnostic. I now know there is a God, for there is no person defined as a 'human' that could have crafted something so... divine.
I'm convinced this God is Tsutomu Mizushima. From now until forever, I dedicate the entirety of my being to his success.
The plot is overly simplistic, heavily redundant, and completely and utterly stupid.
But you didn’t watch this film for the plot, did you? You watched this film to see anime girls fight in tanks. And oh boy do they. They fight and it is incredibly entertaining. Is it realistic? Of course not. But it’s hilarious. Give this film a watch. It’s fun as hell
Sometimes movies don't need to be good, they just need to be fun. This movie is proudly and unapologetically the embodiment of just ridiculous fun. I love it.
I'm growing really tired and exhausted of cute girls shows. I hate military. I really do not care for tanks whatsoever. All of those are things that either I've gotten bored of or never have shown any interest in the first place.
I was thinking about just slapping a meme review in here that would go with some generic stuff like "anime girls and tanks what else do you want?" but I genuinely feel like I would just be doing the movie disservice. "Der Film" goes above and beyond the limits of the series concept and actually delivers an incredible spectacle that comes close in becoming an absolute action masterpiece.
"Girls und panzer der film" makes the absolute best out…
The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Citizen Kane and now Girls und Panzer der Film
Way more ridiculous in its presentation than any of the show which means I had way more fun with it. You already have a show about high school girls piloting WW2 tanks for sport you might as well have them catapult a tank by having another tank shoot it from behind. Do I remember any of the characters by name? The jury's still out on that but I'll pose you this question: is fleshed out characterization REALLY necessary when you have girls in tanks? Also my rating is usually skewed for TV show movies since my enjoyment is largely tied to the source material.
Anime does what anime wants and I’m not entirely sure what it wants. Regardless, this shit is wild.
Maybe the only movie with a scene from Spielbergs 1941 (shows Dan Aykroyd) converted to anime.
Nice!
