A typical bollywood laid back kinda film... First 45 mins I was just having fun of the nonsense humour this film had with all conviction and then the film changed its genre drastically and I thought film isn't going to recover from that but I was wrong. Film had twists after twists after twists in its sleeve and though one can see it coming and it's damn messy still It was kinda of fun for me.. Don't get me wrong this film isn't some very well executed comedy thriller film it's just I had a great time watching it. The meta humour specially when Kiara says "I'm going to push you of the stairs" To Renuka was gold moment as…
Govinda Naam Mera: Pappi
“He doesn’t have the guts to shoot me.”
Shashank Khaitan’s Govinda Naam Mera is a decent comedy thriller. Based on the promo, I was expecting this to be one of the worst films this year. I figure if an entertainer is being dumped on OTT, then it must be substandard. But honestly this is perfectly alright. It has a good sense of humour, a bit of suspense and fun twists. Genre wise it feels like Monica, O My Darling at times. It’s not as good as that one but it’s serviceable. It kept me engaged throughout but never wowed me at any point. Vicky Kaushal’s foray into a more masala zone works. I think he has…
This was a generic Bollywood crime film with a solid slapstick dark comedy, unreliable characters and mischievous screenplay which made it take good turns at times, making it a moderately entertaining ride. The initial portions seemed very silly but the last 30 minutes or so with good twists and turns proved it otherwise.
But I still prefer Vicky to do films that are out of the box. Vicky, as one of your admirers, I would like to say 'don't listen to KJ, there's a hell lot of good and unique scripts waiting to find a right actor like you, leave these commercial films to others who don't know any better.'
It requires a lot than just surface level appreciation to materialize something inspired from the 90s, take a look at how Vasan Bala does it.
Twists upon twists upon twists; this is one such template a big chunk of authors in recent times have been clinging to. Make no mistake, they still make way for fascinating viewings, it's just that the screenwriting of these kinds often gets confused, and convoluted in the middle, thus resulting in a byproduct that may overwhelm.
The first half starts fine, it got me laughing on several occasions, and the comedy did seem to function (as it should) in almost all instances. Then comes the second half and the tonality shifts to a rather unhumorous expression. The Screenplay took a drastic turn and brought on all the thrills it had in its offering.
Now I'm not saying those didn't work,…
Varun Dhawan would've done a better job.
There, I said it.
Unnecessary overdragged first act.
Pacy entertaining second act.
Entertaining third act but then dumbed down at the very end.
Vicky Kaushal did a fine job, he seems more natural with his comic delivery. Bhumi Pednekar putting her one-tone character choice to great use here.
Dharma Productions' regular Kiara-baiting continues but atleast she had a significant influence on the plot this time.
Adding half a star for Renuka Shahane, absolute showstealer.
kiara advani can ruin me & i'd still gift her 1 cr cash and a 3-bhk flat in andheri
Satak gaya hai iska!
They really missed out on the golden opportunity of naming Kiara's character Priyanka as Bhumi's was Gauri #iykyk.
Anyways, I guess I needed my dose of trash and this wasn't even that bad, just harmless timepass.
The ratings for film is 0/5.
Gave it one star only because Kiara hotwani is mouthwatering in this film.
Vicky Kaushal is super fun. I didn’t know I needed this formulaic larger-than-life quirky musical mystery thriller before the year ends until this morning. Kyaa Baat Haii! 🤌🏻😍
