an entire movie built on that awful feeling you get when you’re iron-deficient and stand up too fast
Easily one of my favorite movies. Greener Grass is unlike anything I've ever seen but it tackles ideas I have never been more familiar with. I love Greener Grass from every angle I look at it. On it's surface, it's hilarious, absurd, unpredictable, uncomfortable, basically everything you'd find on Adult Swim but turned up to the max. And from that perspective it's absolutely hilarious thanks to some amazing performances with peeeerfect comedic timing. But what I love SO much about this movie is how it is so much more than that . Beneath that, there's a shit ton of commentary on suburbia and identity. So much that I need to see it again, and again, and again for me to completely dissect it all. It's a dense film that can be enjoyed not matter how you look at it. It's fun and complex at the same damn time. I could watch this movie all day.
why do i think there's some truth behind beck bennett's character's obsession with drinking pool water
whoever is responsible for coming up with the beck bennett pool water storyline deserves the nobel peace prize
Julian: “Can I watch Popeye?”
Jill: “No, it’s a school night.”
Julian: “YOU’RE A SCHOOL!”
Nick: “JULIAN! YOUR MOTHER IS NOT A SCHOOL!”
Julian: “I’m MoM, i’M fUlL oF cLaSsRoOmS, sO mAnY cLoCkS iN mE.”
This is exactly my kind of movie comedically, thematically and aesthetically. It’s just so out there and different, and gives off some incredible vibes. Go into it blind if you can.
If aliens landed on Earth and had to describe the human race, this would be it.
Like that video about what English sounds like to others. Like seeing a new color. A Sandler comedy ala Music Box.
suburban life is so fucking weird and you never realize how surreally toxic it really is until you leave that lifestyle and then look back on it. this movie GETS IT though. it gets how hilarious it is to constantly compare yourself to your neighbors and try to match or one-up them, using your children as tools to show-off instead of treating them as people. It gets how dark that is and feels for the people trapped in this, but it never loosens it’s grip on the hilarity of it’s nonsense.
“ohh look at me, I am mom! So full of classrooms, so many clocks in me!“
