  I thought I was watching this only to realise 30 mins in I was instead watching Lady Dragon 2. I was wondering why there was a whole subplot revolving around a kickboxing tournament lol. Some of these Cynthia Rothrock titles having a hundred and one different names really don't make it easy. Anyway, when I finally got the correct film I found it one of her better American efforts, this time she's a bodyguard for hire after becoming disillusioned with the police force - the police captain looked like a prime Barry Venison with her particular mullet, a reference that nobody outside the UK and who is of a certain age will get but I'll run with it regardless!   Um dieses Wochenende nicht zu einer reinen Macho-Parade verkommen zu lassen, gibt’s jetzt mal ordentlich Frauenpower und das in Form meines ersten Cynthia Rothrock Films!
  Bisher kannte ich sie lediglich aus der Doku „Iron Fists and Kung Fu Kicks“, hab mir aber schon lange vorgenommen, mal einen Film mit ihr anzuschauen. Und heute war der perfekte Anlass dafür.

  In Sachen Action- und Kampf-Skills braucht sich Frau Rothrock in keiner Weise vor ihren männlichen Kollegen verstecken. Sie tritt Ärsche und ihr knallhartes Auftreten kauft man ihr zu jedem…

  Ein Frevel meinerseits, dass ich die gute Cynthia Rothrock bereits seit sehr vielen Jahren vernachlässigt habe!
  Das geht gar nicht, daher muss die kesse Kämpferin wieder stärker in den Fokus rücken.
  Schön, das seit einiger Zeit einiges auf DVD veröffentlicht - oder wieder veröffentlicht wird - je nachdem. Ich hab einfach den Überblick verloren.

  In BEYOND JUSTICE muss die Gute einen reichen Playboy vor einer Psychopathin beschützen. Die Psychopathin hat auch den zukünftigen Gatten unserer Heldin auf dem Gewissen.
  Nun knallt´s so richtig persönlich!

  Der fängt mal wieder echt stark an, inklusive bekloppter Gruppenkeile. Cynthia teilt auch ordentlich aus und hat wie immer einen flotten Spruch auf den Lippen. Danach nimmt das Teil handlungstechnisch eine merkwürdige Wende und das Tempo geht arg zurück.

  Dafür gibt's durchaus etwas Humor und ungleiches Paar Gekappel. Zwar auf billigniveau, aber es reicht um nicht einzupennen. Zumal es mit schöner Regelmäßigkeit was auf die Kauleiste gibt.

  Alles in allem, standardmäßiges PM Entertainment Gedöns. Halt mit Cynthia Rothrock. Die hat schon schlimmeres gemacht, die hat schon besseres gemacht.

  Nicht zu empfehlen ist natürlich die alte 16er Fassung. Die ist bis an die Grenze zur Absurdität geschnitten. Und bei der dilletantischen Inszenierung und dem eh schon mieserablen Schnitt, hilft das nicht wirklich.

  Kristine McKay (Cynthia Rothrock) leaves the police force after her fiancée is killed. The woman who killed him, Nina Lindell (Lydie Denier) escapes from prison and returns to kill her own former lover, wealthy playboy Lawton Hobbs (Daniel McVicar). Hobbs hires McKay to protect him from this vengeful self-parolee who is looking for revenge, court costs and counterfeiting plates.

  When it comes to action, it's pretty solid. Even in a world where virtually everybody can fight, Rothrock destroys all who cross her path. Lydie Denier is a really good, quietly-but-clearly-unhinged psychopath. I quite enjoyed her jailcell grilling of Rothrock, just pushing her buttons for no other reason than she could.   cynthia basically guards an ultra-repugnant manchild idiot Bruce Wayne playboy type while beating the fuck out people. Especially for a western-fu actioner from 1994, kinda challenges gender roles???? i guess???

  Rothrock quits the force when her fiance is killed. She goes all Riggs from Lethal Weapon and moves into a trailer with her absolutely adorable dog who she talks to while she angrily drinks. She then gets hired to protect a rich playboy from the woman who killed her fiance.

  It's a full 30 minutes of non stop action before we even get to the plot of this movie and all of the action looks pretty great too! There's plenty of shootouts and fight scenes, some car action, a horse chase shootout which was pretty cool and a speed boat chase finale. It's all low budget and cheap looking but not all that repetitive and it remains fun.

  They (who????) say you never forget your first Rothrock..........but sadly I think I just did.

  The mighty action badass Cynthia Rothrock is a badass cop on the trail of other badasses for doing some illegal badassery of some kind. There's some counterfeiting going on and a saucy French badass is looking saucy and killing lots of people for the most fake looking money ever shown on camera, including Rothrock's badass partner/fiancee. After lots of reverb drenched accompanied badassness, Rothrock proves to be too badass for her badass female police lieutenant and is suspended. Unable to turn her badassness off, she becomes the badass bodyguard to the dude bro heir to plastic (not a specific company, just......plastic) who just so happens…

  Leather jackets, bandanas, fake money, bar fights, shootouts, speed boats, helicopters, cars crashing through walls and windows, the weirdest acrylic bong, a burning crotch, a horse chase, two-story falls, and a bunch of casual sexism.

  Fairly standard yet enjoyable ride, especially if you're a fan of Rothrock. Multiple money transactions that turn into karate brawls, tons of exaggerated moody shadowy steel blue lighting and Rothrock having conversations with her dog; if that doesn't sell you then this might not be the movie for you.

  Extra half a star for Rothrock's jeans with the ass stoned washed.

  I don't care how absurd the movies might get, but I always enjoy watching Cynthia Rothrock. Yes Cynthia, you go get 'em in your denim jacket and mom jeans!

  Honestly I liked this movie more than I thought I would. Cynthia kicking ass, plenty of 90s-era thugs just asking for it, horse chase gun-fights, and a speedboat finale that really goes for it. Pretty classic PM Entertainment expectations as far as budget and craftsmanship but Guardian Angel is definitely entertaining. I even found myself wishing it was longer? (!)

  aka BEYOND JUSTICE.

  Also der fängt doch recht smöfte an. Die süße Cynthia ballert und kickt sich durch, hat einen semikessen Spruch auf den Lippen und hat wie so oft einen schrecklichen Modegeschmack, ohne will ich sie aber auch gar nicht mehr.

  Aber irgendwo zwischen lauter Hupfdohlen am Pool und schlechten Dialogen geht dann doch die Luft aus.

  Ich wünsch ihr bessere Filme und außerdem, es ist PM ENTERTAINMENT und ich sehe kein sich überschlagendes Auto. Ne Leute so geht das nicht!!!
